Operating across 18 countries, LAW combines national and international expertise with a survivor-centred, gender-competent, and trauma-informed approach. The organization partners directly with survivors and their communities to strengthen their capacity to engage meaningfully in justice and advocacy processes. In parallel, LAW provides technical assistance to justice institutions, supports legislative reform, and advances accountability and the rule of law. The Position LAW recognizes that mental health and psychosocial wellbeing are fundamental to maintaining a safe, healthy, and productive environment for both staff and beneficiaries. To strengthen its wellbeing framework, LAW seeks an experienced Wellbeing Consultant (Psychologist) to join its consultancy roster. The consultant will play a pivotal role in fostering resilience, self-care, and mental wellness among LAW teams working in conflict-affected contexts. Assignments may include individual or group counselling, training delivery, critical incident response, and the design of wellbeing initiatives that promote holistic mental health care. This position is suited to a creative and compassionate professional with experience supporting individuals exposed to trauma or high-stress environments. Key Responsibilities The Wellbeing Consultant (Psychologist) will: Conduct psychosocial assessments and provide confidential counselling and mental health support to individuals and groups, either remotely or in person. Design and deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA) and mental health awareness training for staff teams. Facilitate debriefing sessions and clinical support measures before and after missions to conflict-affected areas, focusing on stress management, resilience, and coping mechanisms. Serve as the first point of contact for crisis response in the event of a critical incident. Collaborate with Human Resources and senior management to ensure integrated and holistic psychosocial support. Develop and implement wellbeing activities such as workshops, mindfulness sessions, and awareness campaigns. Build staff and community resilience through psychosocial education, self-care, and stress management strategies. Identify and refer individuals requiring specialized mental health support to appropriate care providers. Raise awareness and provide practical toolkits and resources for maintaining mental health and wellbeing in humanitarian contexts. Locations Supported The consultant may engage with LAW teams based in:Geneva, Kyiv, New York, Beirut, Damascus, Chiang Mai, Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, Nairobi, Mogadishu, Juba, Sudan, and Khartoum. Remote work is possible, though some assignments may require travel depending on operational needs. Qualifications and Experience Essential: Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of experience providing therapy, counselling, or mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), preferably in an international NGO or humanitarian setting. Demonstrated experience working in volatile or conflict-affected environments. Proven ability to deliver trauma-informed and culturally sensitive mental health interventions. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills in English. Capacity to work independently, maintain strict confidentiality, and uphold ethical standards. Preferred: Certification or training in Psychological First Aid (PFA), trauma-informed care, stress management, or clinical supervision. Fluency in additional languages relevant to LAW’s areas of operation. Experience designing and leading group therapy, mindfulness, or creative wellbeing sessions (e.g., art therapy).
