Melton Foundation 2027 Global Solvers Accelerator and Global Citizenship Learning Programme Applications are now open for two global development and leadership pathways for 2027, offering emerging leaders and university students opportunities to build practical skills, expand their networks and strengthen their capacity to create positive change. The programmes bring together young people who are passionate about tackling social challenges and contributing to a more inclusive, sustainable and connected world. Two pathways are available: the Global Solvers Accelerator and the Global Citizenship Learning Programme. What Are the 2027 Global Solvers Opportunities? The 2027 opportunities are designed for individuals at different stages of their leadership and social-impact journeys. The Global Solvers Accelerator is aimed at emerging changemakers who are already driving social impact in their communities. It provides a leadership and peer-learning environment where participants can develop their ideas, learn from other changemakers and strengthen their ability to create sustainable solutions. The Global Citizenship Learning Programme, meanwhile, is designed for university students. The fellowship equips participants with knowledge, skills and networks to become catalysts for positive change and more effective global citizens. Together, the two pathways provide opportunities for participants to develop both the practical and leadership capabilities needed to address complex global challenges. 1. Global Solvers Accelerator The Global Solvers Accelerator is intended for emerging leaders who are already taking action within their communities. Rather than focusing solely on theoretical learning, the programme creates a space for participants to learn from peers, strengthen their leadership capabilities and reflect on how they can increase the impact of their work. Participants can benefit from exposure to an international community of changemakers working on diverse social issues. Who Is the Accelerator For? The programme may be particularly relevant to individuals who: Are actively driving social impact in their communities Have developed or are implementing a social-impact initiative Want to strengthen their leadership skills Are interested in learning from other emerging changemakers Want to expand their international network Are looking for new approaches to solving community challenges Are committed to creating lasting positive change For emerging social-impact leaders, joining an international peer network can provide opportunities to exchange ideas, gain new perspectives and develop collaborations beyond their immediate communities. 2. Global Citizenship Learning Programme The Global Citizenship Learning Programme offers a different pathway, focusing specifically on university students. The fellowship is designed to help students develop the skills, knowledge and networks required to become catalysts for change and impactful global citizens. University is an important period for developing leadership skills and discovering ways to contribute to society. This programme provides participants with an opportunity to complement their academic education with learning focused on global citizenship and social impact. What Can Students Gain? Participants can expect an experience focused on areas such as: Global citizenship Leadership development Social impact Community engagement Cross-cultural learning Networking Collaboration Understanding global challenges Developing solutions for positive change The programme can therefore be valuable for students who want to move beyond the classroom and become more actively involved in addressing social and global challenges. Why Apply for a Global Leadership Programme? Young leaders increasingly need more than academic qualifications to navigate complex global challenges. Climate change, inequality, technological transformation, conflict, economic uncertainty and other interconnected challenges require people who can collaborate across cultures, understand different perspectives and turn ideas into action. Programmes such as these can help emerging leaders develop those capabilities while connecting them with people working toward similar goals. For participants from different parts of the world, the international nature of the programmes can also create opportunities to build relationships with peers who bring different experiences and approaches to social change. Global Solvers vs Global Citizenship Learning Programme Although both opportunities share a focus on social impact and global citizenship, they target different audiences. Those already implementing social-impact initiatives may find the Global Solvers Accelerator particularly relevant, while university students interested in developing their global leadership perspective may benefit from the Global Citizenship Learning Programme. How to Prepare a Strong Application Applicants should carefully review the official requirements before submitting an application. A strong application should clearly communicate the applicant’s motivation, experience and commitment to creating positive change. For the Global Solvers Accelerator, applicants should be prepared to demonstrate their involvement in social-impact work and explain the problem they are addressing, the approach they are taking and the impact they hope to achieve. University students applying for the Global Citizenship Learning Programme should highlight their interest in global issues, leadership experiences, community involvement and aspirations for creating positive change. Most importantly, applicants should demonstrate authenticity and purpose rather than simply listing achievements. An Opportunity to Join a Global Family of Changemakers One of the most valuable aspects of these pathways is the opportunity to become part of a wider community. Social-impact work can sometimes feel local, but many community challenges are connected to broader global issues. Connecting with peers from different backgrounds can help participants recognise these connections and discover new approaches to creating change. The resulting networks may also become valuable sources of collaboration, mentorship, inspiration and knowledge throughout participants’ leadership journeys. Who Should Consider Applying? The opportunities may be worth exploring for: University students passionate about global issues Young social entrepreneurs Community organisers Youth leaders Emerging nonprofit leaders Social-impact innovators Student activists and advocates Community development practitioners Young professionals involved in social change Individuals developing solutions to local or global challenges Applicants should check the official eligibility criteria for their chosen pathway before applying. Applications Are Open for 2027 The opening of applications provides aspiring changemakers with an opportunity to invest in their leadership development while joining an international community focused on social impact. Whether an applicant is already leading an initiative or is a university student beginning to explore global citizenship, the two pathways offer different routes toward developing the knowledge, skills and networks needed to contribute more effectively to positive change. Take the Next Step Applications are now open for the 2027 Global Solvers Accelerator and Global Citizenship Learning Programme. For emerging changemakers, the Global Solvers Accelerator offers a platform for leadership development and peer learning.
