The Felix Non-Indian Scholarship is a prestigious, fully funded opportunity offered by SOAS University of London through the generosity of the Felix Scholarship Trust. The scholarship supports outstanding students from developing countries who demonstrate exceptional academic merit and financial need, enabling them to pursue postgraduate studies beginning in September 2026. Scholarship Overview One Felix (Non-Indian) Scholarship is available for a candidate from a developing country to study at SOAS University of London. The scholarship is intended to support academically excellent students who would otherwise be unable to pursue postgraduate education due to financial constraints. The award is open to: Candidates with a first-class undergraduate degree applying for a taught master’s programme Candidates with a first-class master’s degree applying for a PhD programme The scholarship is aimed primarily at nationals of: Afghanistan Syria Iran Iraq Palestine territories (West Bank and Gaza) Applicants must be residing in their country of origin at the time of application. What the Scholarship Covers The Felix Non-Indian Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including: Full tuition fees Living costs for the duration of study A return economy air fare between the home country and the United Kingdom The scholarship does not cover funding for pre-sessional English courses. Eligible Programmes Applicants may apply to: Any full-time taught master’s programme Any full-time PhD programme Part-time programmes are not eligible for this scholarship. Candidate Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet all of the following requirements: Be a national of a developing country and currently living and studying in their country of origin Not have previously studied for one year or more outside their home country Hold a first-class Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or comparable institution Demonstrate clear financial need Commit to returning to work in their home country upon completion of their studies Additional conditions include: Candidates who already hold a Master’s degree may not apply for a Master’s scholarship Candidates applying for a PhD must hold a first-class Master’s degree Applicants must have submitted a complete application for admission by the scholarship deadline Admission and Offer Requirements To be considered for the scholarship: Applicants must submit a complete online application for admission to SOAS Applicants must hold an offer of admission by the time shortlisting takes place Priority may be given to candidates with an unconditional offer of admission If an offer is conditional on English language requirements, applicants are encouraged to complete their English tests as early as possible Only candidates who have been accepted for admission will be considered for scholarship shortlisting. Candidate Assessment Process Applications are assessed based on: Academic merit, including degree results Financial need Academic references (if applicable) Personal statement and supporting documentation The assessment is based on information provided in both the scholarship application and the SOAS admission application. Application Deadline All applications must be submitted by: 12 noon (UK local time), 2 March 2026 Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants are advised to submit their admission applications well in advance, as departmental review may take 4–6 weeks during busy periods. Application Process The application process consists of two mandatory steps: Step One: Apply for Admission Submit a complete online application for a master’s or research degree by the deadline Step Two: Apply for the Scholarship Apply for the Felix Non-Indian Scholarship via the SOAS admissions portal Applicants must have course login credentials to access the scholarship application Applicants who do not see the scholarship listed in the portal should verify their eligibility before contacting the Scholarships Office. Notification of Results Shortlisted candidates will be notified by March 2026 Shortlisted applicants will attend an online interview with representatives of the Felix Trust between April and May 2026 Final scholarship outcomes will be communicated by June 2026 Interviews are conducted by the Felix Trust, not by SOAS. About the Felix Scholarship Trust The Felix Scholarship Trust is administered by SOAS University of London, the University of Oxford, and the University of Reading, with support from the Felix Trustees and their agents in London. The donor wishes to remain anonymous. The Felix Trust also maintains a network for alumni engagement and ongoing support.
