The UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RCC Asia-Pacific) is organizing the second edition of the Climate Policy Innovators Youth Camp in 2026. Building on the success of the first camp held in February 2025, this initiative responds to strong demand from youth participants for more structured and in-depth capacity-building opportunities in climate governance, policy processes, and implementation pathways. The 2026 edition is designed to strengthen young people’s ability to engage meaningfully in climate policymaking and action at national, regional, and international levels, particularly in the context of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). The program combines technical knowledge with practical skills and hands-on learning, while prioritizing inclusion, equity, and intersectionality across gender, disability, Indigenous identity, and socioeconomic background. Objectives of the UNFCCC Youth Camp The Climate Policy Innovators Youth Camp 2.0 aims to: Strengthen technical competencies and understanding of climate change governance and policy processes among youth participants. Equip young people to effectively participate in the formulation and implementation of NDCs and NAPs at national and sub-national levels. Empower youth as active contributors to climate action and policy implementation from local communities to global platforms. Foster inclusive youth leadership, addressing intersectional dimensions of climate action and governance. Enhance youth readiness to participate in international climate negotiations and UNFCCC processes. UNFCCC Youth Camp Program Structure The 2026 camp features enhanced modules that integrate: Technical knowledge: Understanding climate science, governance frameworks, and policy development processes. Applied skills: Tools and strategies for policy engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and climate action planning. Hands-on learning: Interactive exercises, simulations, and case studies focused on NDCs, NAPs, and climate policy implementation. Inclusive and equitable approaches: Addressing barriers to participation based on gender, disability, Indigenous identity, socioeconomic status, and other factors. Through this approach, the camp ensures participants gain both knowledge and practical experience in shaping and implementing climate policies. Expected Outcomes By the conclusion of the camp, participants are expected to: Demonstrate enhanced knowledge and skills to engage effectively in climate policy discussions and decision-making processes. Be equipped to collaborate with governments and stakeholders on the development and implementation of climate policies. Contribute informed perspectives to national, regional, and international climate processes. Apply the skills and insights gained to support climate action in their home countries and communities. Target Audience The camp is open to youth from Asia-Pacific countries, selected through an open application process. Eligible participants should meet the following criteria: Be 18 years or older, within the nationally defined youth age group. Have prior or ongoing engagement in climate policy processes, including NDCs and NAPs. Priority is given to youth from rural areas, low-income backgrounds, Indigenous communities, LGBTI groups, NEET youth, and other underrepresented constituencies. This focus ensures diverse representation and strengthens the camp’s impact across multiple sectors and communities.
