Through this scholarship, five exceptional changemakers will gain international recognition and the opportunity to connect with global leaders committed to using technology for positive impact. Focus Areas for the Scholarship Applicants should be leading initiatives that demonstrate measurable impact through the responsible application of artificial intelligence. Projects should align with one or more of the following thematic areas: AI for sustainability and climate action, including environmental protection and resource management. AI to improve education, expand access to learning opportunities, and enhance productivity. AI to combat misinformation, online hate, and digital harm while promoting social equity. AI for healthcare, improving health access, reducing inequalities, and supporting mental well-being. AI to strengthen civic participation, public engagement, and democratic processes. Applicants whose work falls outside these exact categories may still be considered if they demonstrate innovative and responsible use of AI to create positive social impact. Who Can Apply? The scholarship is open to emerging African leaders who have demonstrated both leadership potential and practical experience in developing AI-driven solutions. Eligible applicants must: Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of the One Young World Summit 2026. Be nationals and residents of any African country. Demonstrate leadership in promoting the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence. Have a proven track record of developing impactful AI solutions within Africa. Show a strong understanding of local and global challenges. Be willing to actively participate with fellow scholars and representatives from The Brandtech Group during the summit. While the standard age requirement is 18 to 30 years, applicants over 30 may also be considered if they demonstrate exceptional impact, leadership, and commitment to youth engagement.
