The required documents include: A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing academic background and experience A complete list of academic publications A selection of up to three academic publications in German or English (submitted in PDF format) A detailed research project description of approximately 5 to 10 pages The research proposal is a central component of the application and should clearly outline the research objectives, methodology, theoretical framework, and expected academic contribution. Scholarship Duration and Research Stay The Barbara Huber Scholarship supports research stays at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law. The duration of the scholarship ranges from a minimum of two months to a maximum of six months. During this period, scholars are expected to actively engage with the institute’s academic environment, contribute to scholarly exchange, and advance their individual research projects. The program is designed to provide both intellectual and institutional support, enabling researchers to work in a highly specialized and collaborative setting. Scholarship Funding and Financial Support The scholarship provides monthly financial support based on the academic level of the recipient. The funding structure is as follows: EUR 1,650 per month for doctoral candidates EUR 2,700 per month for postdoctoral researchers EUR 3,200 per month for professors and experienced academics In addition to the monthly stipend, recipients may also be eligible for supplementary financial support. This additional grant can cover expenses related to participation in academic conferences, research activities, or scholarly engagement in Germany and other European countries. Health Insurance Requirements All scholarship recipients are required to maintain valid health insurance for the duration of their stay. Proof of adequate health coverage must be submitted before or upon commencement of the scholarship. The responsibility lies with the applicant to ensure that their insurance meets the necessary requirements for residence and academic activity in Germany. This condition is mandatory and ensures that scholars are fully covered during their research stay. Application Deadline and Submission Process Applications for the Barbara Huber Scholarship must be submitted by 31 May of the year preceding the intended scholarship period. This strict deadline ensures sufficient time for evaluation, selection, and planning. All applications must be submitted through the CSL Application Portal under the Barbara Huber Scholarship Program section. Late or incomplete applications are generally not considered, making timely submission essential for eligibility.
