About the Cecil Renaud Educational and Charitable Trust The Cecil Renaud Educational and Charitable Trust was established in 1988 by Durban philanthropist Dr Cecil Renaud. Following his passing on 3 June 1993, the remaining assets of his estate were entrusted to the organisation, enabling it to expand its educational and charitable initiatives. Shortly after becoming operational, the trustees introduced the Overseas Scholarship to support postgraduate study abroad. It allows recipients to pursue advanced academic training at a university of their choice, provided they meet admission requirements. The scholarship is not restricted to a specific field of study. Instead, it supports academic excellence across disciplines, including but not limited to: Social sciences and humanities Natural and physical sciences Engineering and technology Arts and performance studies Interdisciplinary research areas Past scholars have pursued programmes such as Development Studies, Applied Theology, Mathematics, and Music Performance, reflecting the broad academic scope of the award. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet specific academic, geographic, and personal development requirements to be considered for the scholarship.
