The Chair welcomes scholars specialising in war, peace, conflict resolution, human rights, democracy, and development. Established in 2003, the Chair honours the legacy of Professor Claude Ake, a distinguished African scholar, philosopher, teacher, and humanist. It is a collaborative initiative co-financed by the Nordic Africa Institute and the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University.
