Columbia Climate School at Columbia University in the City of New York has opened applications for its Fall 2026 master’s programmes, offering rigorous, interdisciplinary training for future leaders in climate science, policy, finance, and society. These programmes are designed for candidates seeking to address complex climate challenges through evidence-based, cross-sectoral approaches. Programmes Offered Applicants may apply to the following graduate degrees: MA in Climate and Society MS in Climate MS in Climate Finance Each programme integrates climate science with social, economic, and policy dimensions, preparing graduates for careers in research, public policy, finance, development, and the private sector. Application Deadlines Priority Application Deadline: 15 January 2026 Final Application Deadline: 1 March 2026 Key considerations: Applications submitted by the priority deadline are eligible for merit-based scholarships. Priority applicants will receive admissions decisions by the end of March 2026. Applications submitted after the priority deadline are reviewed on a rolling basis, subject to availability. General Eligibility Requirements Applicants to Columbia Climate School master’s programmes must meet the following criteria: Hold the equivalent of a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution prior to matriculation Demonstrate prior academic coursework or professional experience in: Natural sciences, and/or Social sciences relevant to climate, sustainability, development, or policy The admissions committee values interdisciplinary backgrounds and evidence of preparedness for graduate-level study. Required Application Materials A complete application package includes: Statement of Purpose outlining academic interests and career goals Official or unofficial academic transcripts Curriculum Vitae (CV) or résumé Quantitative résumé (required for the MS in Climate Finance only) Two letters of recommendation, including: At least one academic recommender English language proficiency test scores for international applicants: TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo Application fee, as specified by Columbia University Incomplete applications will not be considered. Academic Prerequisites For applicants to the MS in Climate and MS in Climate Finance, the following prerequisites typically apply: At least one semester of college-level calculus At least one semester of college-level statistics Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate quantitative readiness through coursework or professional experience.
