EU Youth Sounding Board Kenya 2026 – Second Cohort
globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

September 17, 2026

Description

The European Union Delegation to Kenya is inviting applications from young people across Kenya to join the second cohort of the EU Youth Sounding Board (YSB). The initiative provides young Kenyan leaders with an opportunity to contribute to policy discussions, strengthen youth participation and help shape the partnership between the European Union and Kenya. The Youth Sounding Board brings together 15 young people from across Kenya to advise the EU Delegation on issues affecting youth participation and empowerment. Members will contribute to structured dialogue involving young people, civil society organizations and the European Union. The application deadline is Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Nairobi Time. About the EU Youth Sounding Board The EU Youth Sounding Board is designed to create a meaningful mechanism through which young people can contribute their perspectives to the EU-Kenya partnership. Through the initiative, selected members will provide advice and perspectives on youth participation, empowerment and issues relevant to young people in Kenya. The programme seeks to ensure that cooperation between the European Union and Kenya is inclusive, relevant and responsive to the needs and aspirations of young people. The second cohort will consist of 15 young people representing diverse communities and perspectives across Kenya. Who Should Apply? The European Union is looking for diverse, collaborative and community-minded young leaders who are actively engaged in initiatives that support young people and their communities. Applicants should have experience or active involvement with: • Youth organizations and groups. • Civil society organizations. • Youth networks and movements. • Community initiatives. • Other collective activities focused on community or youth development. Successful applicants are expected to bring the perspectives of the communities they serve into discussions and contribute constructively to dialogue with other young leaders, civil society and EU representatives. Key Responsibilities Members of the Youth Sounding Board will contribute to structured engagement between young people and the European Union Delegation to Kenya. Their role will include providing perspectives and advice on issues relating to youth participation and empowerment, contributing to discussions on the EU-Kenya partnership and helping ensure that youth priorities are reflected in relevant engagement and dialogue. Members will also be expected to work collaboratively with fellow YSB members and engage respectfully with people from different backgrounds and communities. The initiative provides young leaders with a platform to communicate community perspectives while contributing to discussions that can influence how youth-related priorities are understood and addressed. Why the Opportunity Matters Young people play an important role in shaping Kenya’s social, economic and civic future. However, meaningful youth participation requires mechanisms through which young people can contribute directly to policy dialogue and institutional decision-making. The EU Youth Sounding Board provides such a mechanism by connecting young leaders with the European Union Delegation and creating space for youth perspectives to inform the EU-Kenya partnership. For selected participants, the initiative can provide valuable exposure to policy dialogue, civic engagement, youth participation, civil society collaboration and international development partnerships. It is particularly relevant for young leaders who want to strengthen their ability to represent community perspectives and contribute to discussions on issues affecting young people. Selection and Diversity The EU Delegation is seeking a cohort that reflects the diversity of Kenya’s youth population. Applicants should therefore demonstrate meaningful engagement with their communities and an ability to represent perspectives beyond their individual experiences. The initiative values applicants who are collaborative, inclusive and committed to constructive dialogue. The selection process will consider the eligibility and requirements outlined in the official Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the second cohort. Prospective applicants should review the full ToRs carefully before completing the application to understand the eligibility criteria, expected responsibilities and application requirements. How to Apply Interested young leaders should first review the official Terms of Reference for the EU Youth Sounding Board Second Cohort and confirm that they meet the specified requirements. Eligible candidates should then complete and submit the online application form. The application deadline is August 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Nairobi Time. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical difficulties.
