Scholarship Coverage and Benefits The FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship is fully funded, with all eligible student-related costs covered by the Hungarian Government. The scholarship includes: Full coverage of application and tuition fees for the entire study period Provision of basic books and academic notes Dormitory accommodation Monthly subsistence allowance Comprehensive health insurance The scholarship supports students only. Family members are not covered under this programme. Eligible Countries and Territories Applicants must be nationals and residents of one of the eligible countries or territories. These include countries across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jordan, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Namibia, Nigeria, the Philippines, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, Yemen, and many others. Eligibility is strictly based on both citizenship and residency, and applications from candidates outside the approved list will not be considered. Application and Selection Process The selection process for scholarships commencing in September 2026 is conducted in two distinct phases: Phase One: FAO Pre-ScreeningFAO reviews and pre-screens applications before submitting eligible and complete dossiers to the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry then forwards applications to the respective universities selected by applicants. Only complete applications are considered, and submissions missing required documentation or applicant identification are automatically excluded. Phase Two: University SelectionShortlisted candidates may be required to undertake a written or oral English language examination as part of the university admission process. Final selection decisions are made exclusively by the participating universities, without FAO involvement. Successful applicants are notified by both the university and the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture.
