GoodPower is seeking an experienced Senior Researcher (Mixed Methods) to join its growing Good Data Lab. This fully remote position, available to candidates based in the United States, offers an annual salary of USD 100,000–120,000 alongside a comprehensive benefits package. The role presents an opportunity for behavioral and social science researchers to lead high-impact studies that support the global transition to a low-carbon economy. Working at the intersection of behavioral science, public opinion, data analytics, and climate innovation, the successful candidate will design rigorous mixed-methods research that informs renewable energy adoption, electric vehicle uptake, civic engagement, misinformation interventions, and broader decarbonization strategies. About GoodPower GoodPower is a global organization dedicated to unlocking the economic potential of decarbonization through research, innovation, strategic communications, and emerging technologies. Its mission is to accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions while creating healthier, more resilient, and economically prosperous communities. The organization combines behavioral science, digital media, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and public engagement to develop scalable interventions that improve public understanding and acceptance of renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, energy storage, and sustainable transportation. As GoodPower expands its 2030 Strategic Plan, it is investing significantly in AI-enabled systems, advanced research capabilities, and next-generation communications infrastructure. About the Senior Researcher Role The Senior Researcher will serve as a key scientific leader within the Good Data Lab, independently developing and managing applied research projects from conception through implementation and dissemination. The position requires a researcher capable of generating original research questions, designing robust methodologies, collecting and analyzing data, and translating findings into actionable recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and organizational leaders. Reporting directly to the Chief Research Officer, the researcher will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams while also building partnerships with leading academic institutions and external research organizations. Limited travel will be required for departmental meetings, staff retreats, and organizational events. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will lead innovative research across multiple thematic areas related to climate action and public behavior. Primary responsibilities include: Designing and leading original mixed-methods research projects. Developing randomized controlled trials, field experiments, survey experiments, and quasi-experimental studies. Conducting qualitative research through interviews, focus groups, and open-ended analysis. Measuring attitudes, behavior change, public engagement, and program effectiveness. Identifying emerging research opportunities that strengthen behavioral approaches to decarbonization. Collaborating with communications, advocacy, civic engagement, and digital teams to integrate evidence into program design. Building partnerships with universities, polling firms, community organizations, and research vendors. Producing reports, presentations, policy recommendations, and publications for technical and non-technical audiences. The role emphasizes independent scientific judgment and expects the researcher to evaluate not only whether interventions work, but also why they succeed, for whom they are most effective, and under which conditions they generate meaningful impact. Eligibility Criteria GoodPower is looking for experienced researchers with strong methodological expertise and a demonstrated record of independent scholarship. Applicants should possess: A PhD in psychology, sociology, political science, communication, behavioral science, public policy, evaluation, or another relevant social science discipline. Strong experience designing and conducting experimental or quasi-experimental research. Expertise in quantitative methods, statistical analysis, and causal inference. Experience applying qualitative and mixed-methods research approaches. Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Python, Stata, SAS, SPSS, or similar analytical tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both academic and public audiences. The ability to independently manage multiple research projects from design to interpretation. Candidates with three or more years of postdoctoral research experience and expertise in climate communication, renewable energy, political behavior, misinformation, agriculture, or electric vehicle adoption will be particularly competitive. Salary and Benefits GoodPower offers a highly competitive compensation package designed to support employee wellbeing and long-term career development. Annual salary: USD 100,000–120,000 Additional benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance with 95–100% employer-paid premiums. 2–4 weeks of paid annual vacation. 13 paid public holidays plus 2 floating holidays. Two-week annual office closure. 10 paid sick leave days. 3% employer contribution to a 403(b) retirement plan. USD 200 monthly wellness and phone stipend. Education reimbursement of up to USD 1,500 annually. Two paid volunteer days each year. Eight weeks of paid parental leave. Eight-week paid sabbatical after five years of service. Why This Opportunity Stands Out This position offers researchers the opportunity to shape one of the fastest-growing areas of behavioral science: understanding how communication, public attitudes, and social behavior influence the clean energy transition. Rather than working solely in academic settings, the Senior Researcher will generate evidence that directly informs real-world climate programs and large-scale policy initiatives. GoodPower’s collaborative partnerships with institutions including Stanford University, Yale University, George Mason University, Tufts University, Analyst Institute, and GrowProgress further strengthen its reputation as a leader in applied behavioral research for social impact. How to Apply Interested candidates should prepare the following application materials: Resume or Curriculum Vitae Cover letter Writing sample demonstrating research and analytical expertise Academic and professional references Responses to methodological and research experience questions within the application form Applications are submitted online through GoodPower’s recruitment portal. Candidates should ensure that all required documents, including the writing sample, are uploaded before submitting their application.
