globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

September 17, 2026

Description

HelpAge International is inviting applications for a Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Manager (Consultancy) to support the organisation’s efforts to expand philanthropic income from trusts, foundations, and other funding sources in the United States. The consultancy will focus on strengthening HelpAge International’s donor prospecting and fundraising pipeline by identifying potential philanthropic partners, assessing funding opportunities, conducting targeted outreach, and generating intelligence to inform future donor cultivation. The opportunity is particularly suitable for an experienced fundraising, business development, prospect research, or philanthropy professional with strong knowledge of the United States funding landscape. About the Consultancy The Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Manager will contribute to HelpAge International’s efforts to develop a stronger pipeline of prospective US-based funding partners. Building on an existing prospect-mapping exercise, the consultant will assess and qualify potential donors and foundations, determine their alignment with HelpAge’s work, and support targeted engagement with promising funding prospects. The consultancy will also examine the effectiveness of funding intelligence platforms by making use of available free trial subscriptions. The findings will help HelpAge International determine which tools could strengthen its prospect research, donor identification, and fundraising strategy in the US philanthropic market. Key Responsibilities The successful consultant will be expected to undertake a range of fundraising and donor intelligence activities, including: Reviewing and qualifying prospective trusts, foundations, and other philanthropic funding sources in the United States. Building on existing donor and prospect mapping work. Conducting detailed prospect research to identify potential funding partners. Assessing donor priorities, giving patterns, geographic interests, and thematic areas. Identifying opportunities that align with HelpAge International’s strategic priorities. Conducting targeted donor outreach and engagement. Assessing market interest and potential donor appetite. Supporting the development of a strong pipeline of prospective funding partners. Maintaining and strengthening prospect and pipeline management systems. Providing fundraising intelligence to support future donor cultivation. Testing relevant funding intelligence platforms through available free trials. Evaluating the usefulness and effectiveness of these platforms. Providing recommendations on tools and approaches that could improve HelpAge International’s fundraising strategy. Ideal Candidate Profile The consultancy is intended for a professional with strong experience in prospect research, donor engagement, fundraising, and pipeline management. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to identify and assess prospective philanthropic partners and translate research into practical fundraising opportunities. Key competencies include: Excellent prospect research skills. Strong donor identification and qualification abilities. Experience managing fundraising pipelines. Excellent written communication skills. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to conduct targeted donor engagement. Strong analytical and research capabilities. Understanding of philanthropic funding trends. Ability to independently manage consultancy assignments and deliverables. Strong attention to detail and organisation. Experience working with international development or humanitarian organisations would be an advantage. Relevant Sector Experience Candidates with experience or established networks within the philanthropic sector are particularly well positioned for the consultancy. Additional knowledge of sectors such as the following would be beneficial: Ageing and older people’s rights. Health systems. Social protection. Humanitarian response. International development. Social and economic inclusion. Global health and development. An understanding of the US philanthropic ecosystem and established relationships with relevant trusts and foundations would also strengthen an application. Focus on the US Philanthropic Market A central objective of the consultancy is to strengthen HelpAge International’s presence within the United States philanthropic funding market. The consultant will help identify potential funding partners whose priorities align with HelpAge’s work and assess which prospects have realistic potential for future cultivation. This will require a combination of market intelligence, donor research, relationship-building, and strategic pipeline development. The consultant will also be expected to provide practical recommendations based on the assessment of funding intelligence platforms and prospecting approaches. Application Requirements Interested and qualified candidates are required to submit the following: A cover letter explaining their suitability for the consultancy. An up-to-date CV. A financial proposal specifying their proposed daily consultancy rate. The cover letter should demonstrate relevant experience in fundraising, prospect research, donor engagement, philanthropic networks, and pipeline development. Candidates should also highlight relevant experience in international development, humanitarian work, or sectors connected to HelpAge International’s mission where applicable. How to Apply Applications should be submitted by email to Jobs@helpage.org. The closing date is 1 September 2026.
