INTERPOL Communications Officer Opportunity Professionals in communications and advocacy now have the opportunity to work with one of the world’s leading international law enforcement organisations. INTERPOL is currently recruiting candidates for a Communications Officer reserve list, offering roles across multiple duty stations worldwide. Its mission is to facilitate cross-border police cooperation and support efforts to prevent and combat international crime. The organisation works with law enforcement agencies, governments, and international partners to address global security challenges such as terrorism, cybercrime, and transnational crime. Role Overview The Communications Officer will be part of INTERPOL’s Communications Directorate, reporting to the Head of Campaigns & Advocacy. This role focuses on delivering strategic communications support across organisational projects, helping to strengthen visibility, engagement, and impact. Selected candidates will be placed on a reserve list, meaning they may be recruited for current or future vacancies across different locations and contract durations. Key details: Location: Multiple duty stations (global) Contract type: Fixed-term or short-term Duration: Up to 3 years (depending on assignment) Grade: Level 5 Security screening: Basic Key Responsibilities The Communications Officer will contribute across several strategic areas: Strategic Communications and Advisory Develop and implement communication strategies and campaigns Provide expert advice to internal teams on messaging, stakeholder engagement, and communication channels Ensure alignment with INTERPOL’s communication standards and global strategy Monitor and evaluate communication impact and provide recommendations Content Creation and Media Engagement Produce high-quality content including press releases, web stories, social media posts, and speeches Develop multimedia content such as videos, infographics, and visual storytelling materials Support prioritisation of content production to maximise impact Collaborate with internal communications teams to maintain consistent messaging Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including: Law enforcement agencies Governments and member countries Media organisations NGOs, think tanks, and academic institutions Support media relations and external communications strategies Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaboration Storytelling and Case Studies Identify impactful stories that highlight INTERPOL’s work Develop case studies and human-interest stories Promote success stories internally and externally Additional Contributions Stay updated on communication trends and law enforcement developments Support field missions, conferences, and training sessions when required Contribute to donor engagement and communication strategies Document lessons learned and best practices Requirements Education A university degree (3–4 years) in a relevant field is required A master’s degree is considered an advantage Candidates without a degree may qualify with 10 years of relevant experience Experience Applicants should have: At least 3 years of professional experience in communications Experience in international organisations, government, law enforcement, or development sectors (preferred) Proven ability to design and implement communication strategies and campaigns Experience working with media and managing stakeholder relationships Familiarity with digital tools, including: Social media platforms Content management systems Basic design, video, and photo editing tools Language Skills Fluency in English is required Knowledge of additional INTERPOL languages (Arabic, French, or Spanish) is an advantage Core Competencies Successful candidates will demonstrate: Strong writing and storytelling skills Strategic thinking and analytical ability Ability to work in fast-paced, multicultural environments Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills Recruitment Process Applications will be reviewed after the deadline Shortlisted candidates may be invited to tests and interviews approximately six weeks later Selected candidates are expected to begin within 2–3 months of receiving an offer As this is a reserve list, candidates may be considered for multiple roles over time.
