About the Global Digital Pathways Program Refugee Youth Changemakers (RYCM) has launched the Global Digital Pathways Program, a pioneering initiative designed to equip 500 refugees and vulnerable youth with globally competitive digital, professional, and leadership skills. Through fully sponsored access to Coursera, the program removes financial and structural barriers to high-quality education and connects young people to new digital opportunities. The initiative provides access to global learning, recognised certification, and career pathways that enhance employability in an increasingly digital world. RYCM’s goal is to strengthen the capabilities of African youth—including refugees and vulnerable learners—by empowering them to thrive in local and international job markets. Program Overview The Global Digital Pathways Program offers fully funded access to six curated learning pathways. Each pathway is structured to build strong digital literacy, entrepreneurial thinking, global career readiness, and community leadership. Every selected learner will: Choose one pathway for their first four-month learning cycle Study online at their own pace Earn Coursera-certified badges and digital certificates Receive an RYCM x Coursera Certificate of Learning Access tailored career-building support Become eligible to join additional pathways upon completion The program has been designed to ensure that refugees and vulnerable youth gain practical, employment-ready skills that open doors to meaningful economic and leadership opportunities. Available Learning Pathways Learners select one pathway at the beginning of their journey. The six pathways include: 1. Tech & Software Development Pathway Coding and programming fundamentals Web development, software engineering, and app creation Suitable for learners interested in technical and development careers 2. Creative & Professional Skills Pathway Digital design, communication skills, project management Creative tools and professional soft skills for modern workplaces 3. Digital Foundations for Refugees & Vulnerable Youth Basic computer skills and digital literacy Safe and effective use of online tools Ideal for learners with limited digital experience 4. Entrepreneurship & Business Innovation Pathway Business development, marketing, and financial management Tools for building sustainable ventures and community enterprises 5. Eligibility Criteria The program is open to: Youth residing in Africa or young Africans living abroad Refugees or vulnerable youth connected to RYCM or partner organisations Individuals with basic access to a smartphone, laptop, or tablet Learners able to commit at least four months to study Applicants motivated to pursue digital careers or contribute to community development Youth who can confidently engage in online learning No prior experience is required for the Digital Foundations pathway. Submit Application: Applications are reviewed based on motivation and space availability. Receive Confirmation: Selected applicants receive onboarding instructions and their Coursera access link. Begin Learning: Learners start immediately and follow the structured study guide for four months. Duration and Completion Four-month maximum per pathway Self-paced courses with flexible weekly schedules Completion of one pathway required before starting another Mentorship and peer support provided throughout the journey Program Certification Learners receive Coursera Verified Certificates and Digital Badges issued by world-renowned institutions such as Google, Meta, IBM, Yale, and others. Graduates also receive the RYCM x Coursera Certificate of Learning, enhancing applications for jobs, internships, entrepreneurship funding, scholarships, and leadership opportunities.
