Program Overview The Johns Hopkins Gender Equity / Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Evidence Accelerator Fellowship is a competitive, year-long, part-time fellowship designed to strengthen evidence-based practice in gender equity and GBV prevention and response. Hosted by the Center for Global Women’s Health and Gender Equity (CGWHGE) at the Johns Hopkins University, the fellowship supports practitioners, professionals, and scholars working primarily in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The program combines sponsored mentorship, select academic coursework, applied research, and cohort-based learning to enhance fellows’ capacity to generate, analyze, synthesize, and translate evidence into policy and practice. The fellowship is supported by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Fellowship Structure The fellowship runs for one academic year and is structured to accommodate working professionals while maintaining academic rigor. Key features include: Part-time commitment averaging 10 hours per week, with up to 20 hours per week during course periods Select coursework through the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (BSPH) Ongoing one-on-one mentorship from CGWHGE faculty A cohort-based learning model that promotes peer exchange, networking, and professional development One in-person cohort convening during the fellowship year, with all other activities conducted virtually Completion of a mentored mini-project focused on gender equity or GBV, such as: Secondary analysis of existing datasets Evidence synthesis or literature reviews Applied research to inform programs or policy Learning Objectives The fellowship is designed to: Strengthen skills in evidence generation, analysis, and interpretation Build capacity in research translation for policy and program impact Support fellows to integrate rigorous evidence into gender equity and GBV programming Enhance career trajectories in research, policy, advocacy, and implementation Ideal Candidate Profile The fellowship targets individuals who are already engaged in gender equity or GBV-related work and seek to deepen their evidence-based skills. Ideal candidates may include: Program monitoring, evaluation, and learning professionals Community-based researchers Practitioners implementing gender or GBV programs PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, or junior faculty focused on gender or GBV Professionals working in humanitarian, development, or public health settings Applicants should demonstrate: Prior exposure to gender equity and/or GBV work Some research experience (quantitative, qualitative, M&E, or mixed methods) A clear need for advanced skills in evidence-based research, programming, or policy All fellowship activities are conducted entirely in English.
