Spring 2026: Review and nomination process by sending partners and host institutions. Summer 2026: Notification of results and preparation for visa and travel arrangements. September 2026: Start of studies in Hungary. Eligibility and Requirements Available programmes vary by country and level of study. Applicants must ensure that the programme they select is eligible under the agreement between Hungary and their home country’s sending partner. Scholarship Coverage The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including: Full tuition exemption at the host university. Monthly stipend to cover living expenses. Accommodation support or an allowance contribution. Health insurance as specified by Hungarian regulations. Doctoral applicants receive additional research support and are expected to participate in the academic community of their host institution. Rights and Obligations Scholarship holders are required to comply with the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme Operational Regulations, including academic progress requirements. From the 2019/2020 academic year onward, all Bachelor’s, Master’s, and One-Tier Master’s students must earn a minimum of 18 credits on average over two consecutive semesters to maintain their scholarship status. In addition, all new scholarship holders are required to complete a Hungarian language and culture course, offered free of charge by the host university.
