UNDP Launches Youth for Climate Action Online Course The United Nations Development Programme, in partnership with Eco House Global, has launched the Youth for Climate Action Course 2026, a free online educational programme designed to empower young people with climate knowledge, advocacy skills, and tools for community action. The self-paced course is available in both English and Spanish through the Learning for Nature platform and aims to strengthen youth participation in climate governance and environmental decision-making. The initiative reflects growing global efforts to ensure that young people play a more active role in shaping climate policy and sustainable development solutions. About the Youth for Climate Action Course The Youth for Climate Action course was created to help young climate leaders better understand climate change and develop practical skills to advocate for environmental action within their communities. The programme is designed: By youth, for youth To be accessible globally through online learning To support climate leadership and civic participation To promote knowledge-sharing among young people worldwide The course builds on climate education experiences from Latin America and the Caribbean, where previous youth-focused climate initiatives have already reached thousands of participants. Originally launched in Spanish, the programme has already attracted more than 4,000 registered learners, and the new English version is expected to significantly expand its global reach. According to UNDP, children and youth are expected to experience significantly more extreme weather events throughout their lifetimes than previous generations. The course encourages young people to: Raise awareness in their communities Participate in climate policy discussions Engage with civil society and environmental organisations Develop local climate initiatives and campaigns This approach supports broader global efforts to increase youth inclusion in sustainability and environmental governance. Connection to Climate Governance The course also introduces participants to international climate governance systems and frameworks, helping them understand how climate decisions are made globally. Target Audience The Youth for Climate Action course is aimed primarily at: Young climate advocates Students and youth leaders Community organisers Emerging environmental activists Young people interested in sustainability and climate policy The programme is especially useful for youth seeking foundational knowledge in climate leadership and environmental advocacy. Programme Impact The launch of the English-language version significantly broadens the programme’s accessibility and international impact.
