Application Deadline

Description

The University College London (UCL) Institute for Global Health (IGH) is pleased to announce its Postgraduate Bursaries for students applying to its Master’s programs in Global Health and Development, Health Economics and Decision Science, Applied Infectious Diseases Epidemiology, and Global Mental Health. These bursaries, each valued at £2,000, are designed to provide financial support to eligible students and help reduce tuition costs. The awards are open to both UK and international applicants and aim to foster access to world-class education for students demonstrating financial need. The bursaries reflect UCL IGH’s commitment to promoting inclusive and equitable education in the field of global health. By supporting students financially, the Institute ensures that talented individuals who may face financial barriers are still able to pursue advanced training in areas critical to public health, research, and development. The bursaries are applicable for students enrolled in full-time, part-time, or modular/flexible programs commencing in September 2026. Eligibility Criteria Applicants for the UCL IGH Postgraduate Bursaries must meet the following eligibility requirements: Must have an unconditional or conditional offer to study one of the following IGH MSc programs: MSc Global Health and Development MSc Health Economics and Decision Science MSc Applied Infectious Diseases Epidemiology MSc Global Mental Health Open to both UK and international applicants Eligible for students pursuing study full-time, part-time, or through modular/flexible formats Entry for the bursaries is specifically for the academic year starting September 2026 These criteria ensure that the bursaries reach students who have already demonstrated academic merit and are committed to pursuing advanced studies in global health-related fields. UCL IGH seeks applicants who not only show financial need but also have the potential to contribute meaningfully to global health research, policy, and practice. Selection Criteria The primary selection criterion for these bursaries is financial need. Applicants are required to provide sufficient information to demonstrate their need for financial assistance. The assessment process evaluates the applicant’s personal circumstances, including their ability to meet tuition fees and associated costs of study without external support. In addition to financial need, the Institute considers the applicant’s potential contribution to the MSc program, their commitment to advancing global health, and their engagement with issues affecting local, national, and international health outcomes. The bursaries are therefore targeted not only at reducing financial barriers but also at empowering students to fully participate in academic, research, and professional activities during their studies. Application Process Applicants interested in receiving a UCL IGH Postgraduate Bursary must submit their completed application form via email to igh.scholarships@ucl.ac.uk. All applications must be received by 9:00 AM BST on 26 June 2026. Successful applicants will be notified of their award status in August 2026. The application form requires students to provide detailed information about their financial situation, including sources of funding, living expenses, and any other circumstances affecting their ability to pay tuition fees. Applicants are encouraged to present a clear and honest account of their financial need, as well as their academic and professional objectives, to strengthen their case for receiving the bursary. Benefits of the Bursary The IGH Postgraduate Bursaries offer several advantages to recipients: Tuition reduction: The £2,000 bursary is directly deducted from tuition fees, reducing the financial burden on students. Support for academic engagement: By alleviating financial pressure, recipients can fully engage in their MSc studies, research activities, and professional development opportunities offered by UCL IGH. Enhanced access: The bursary opens doors for both UK and international students who might otherwise face financial barriers to studying in London. Networking opportunities: Bursary recipients become part of the IGH student community, gaining access to seminars, workshops, and global health networks. These benefits are particularly valuable in the context of global health education, where students often pursue research and fieldwork that require both financial resources and flexibility. The bursary enables recipients to focus on their studies and maximize their potential in contributing to global health initiatives. Apply Now The UCL Institute for Global Health Postgraduate Bursaries represent an important commitment to inclusive education, offering financial assistance to students who demonstrate need and academic promise. With a focus on supporting both UK and international MSc applicants across multiple disciplines, these bursaries provide critical support for students seeking to advance their careers in global health and development. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their completed forms by the deadline of 26 June 2026 to take advantage of this valuable funding opportunity.
