Undergraduate neuroscience researchers have an exciting opportunity to receive financial support to attend one of the world’s largest neuroscience conferences through the 2026 Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) Travel Award. The travel award program is now accepting applications from eligible undergraduate students who will present their research at the 2026 Society for Neuroscience (SfN) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The competitive award provides USD $1,000 in travel support to assist students with conference-related expenses while promoting undergraduate participation in neuroscience research and professional development. About the 2026 FUN Travel Award The Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) Travel Award is designed to encourage undergraduate students to showcase their research at the annual Society for Neuroscience meeting. The award recognizes outstanding student researchers and provides financial assistance to help cover travel expenses associated with attending the conference. The 2026 Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting will take place in Washington, DC, from November 14 to November 18, 2026. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to present their work, network with leading neuroscientists, engage with fellow researchers, and gain exposure to the latest developments in neuroscience research. In addition to receiving financial support, award recipients and their faculty advisors will be expected to assist at the Society for Neuroscience booth during the conference. Award Value Successful applicants will receive: A travel award valued at USD $1,000 Financial assistance toward eligible travel expenses Opportunity to attend the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting Networking opportunities with neuroscience researchers and professionals Exposure to cutting-edge neuroscience research and career development opportunities Award recipients must submit all required travel receipts, including airfare, hotel accommodation, taxis, rideshare services, and other eligible travel expenses before reimbursement is processed. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet several eligibility criteria to be considered for the award. Eligible candidates should: Be undergraduate students conducting neuroscience research. Be authors on an abstract accepted for presentation during the Society for Neuroscience General Meeting. Have a faculty sponsor who is a current Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) member in good standing. Submit all required application materials before the deadline. International students are also encouraged to apply. However, eligibility requires that their faculty mentor be an active FUN member. Applicants should note that the program does not cover wire transfer fees or currency exchange costs associated with receiving the award. Required Application Materials Applicants must combine all required documents into one PDF file before submission. The application package must include: Society for Neuroscience abstract, including title, authors, and affiliations. Student Candidate Statement (maximum two pages) describing: Research experience. Academic background. Connection to the research being presented. Future academic and career interests. Faculty Sponsor Questionnaire and Statement (maximum 500 words). Current student Curriculum Vitae (CV) or résumé. The application form also requests detailed information regarding the student’s academic status, institution, anticipated graduation year, authorship position on the conference abstract, and the amount of time spent working on the research project. Additional Information Faculty sponsors play a central role in the application process and must confirm their active FUN membership status. Only faculty members who are current members of the organization are eligible to sponsor student applicants. Applicants must also provide information such as: Faculty sponsor’s name and email address. Student’s university or college. Type of institution. Academic year. Major and minor fields of study. SfN Abstract Control Number. Student authorship role on the conference abstract. The Society for Neuroscience abstract must have already been submitted before completing the travel award application.
