Project Background: AREMS The Agentic Risk & Environmental Management System (AREMS) is a cutting-edge initiative designed to transform humanitarian response through advanced artificial intelligence. AREMS integrates formal datasets with community-sourced intelligence into a dynamic knowledge graph. Using AI agents, the platform delivers actionable insights, risk analysis, and decision-support directly to non-technical users via widely used messaging applications. The initiative aims to improve anticipatory action, operational coordination, and real-time decision-making within humanitarian settings. Role Overview The Humanitarian Coordinator for Nigeria will serve as the in-country lead for the AREMS initiative. This role acts as the strategic and operational bridge between Nigeria’s humanitarian ecosystem and the AREMS technical development team. The position is responsible for driving adoption, contextualisation, and effective implementation of the AREMS platform within Nigeria’s humanitarian coordination architecture. The role requires deep contextual knowledge of the Nigerian humanitarian landscape, strong networks across UN agencies and NGOs, and direct engagement with affected communities to ensure the platform responds to real-world operational needs. Key Responsibilities Strategic Representation and Stakeholder Coordination Act as the primary AREMS representative in Nigeria Build and maintain strong relationships with UN agencies, international and national NGOs, government institutions, and community leaders Represent AREMS in humanitarian coordination forums, including cluster meetings and inter-agency working groups Promote alignment of AREMS with the Humanitarian Response Plan and national priorities Champion platform adoption by demonstrating value for data-driven decision-making Needs Translation and Technical Requirements Lead participatory workshops and field consultations with humanitarian actors and community members Identify operational challenges and critical information gaps Translate user needs into functional specifications, user stories, and technical requirements Maintain a continuous feedback loop between field users and AI/software development teams Support iterative product development and feature prioritisation Data Analysis and Information Products Guide analysis of data within the AREMS platform using contextual field knowledge Identify trends, risks, and emerging needs relevant to humanitarian actors Lead development of information products such as dashboards, thematic maps, and automated reports Ensure outputs are accessible, intuitive, and decision-oriented Community Engagement and Capacity Building Design and oversee a community engagement strategy that centres affected populations Ensure community voices inform system design and implementation Support development and delivery of training sessions for partners and community leaders Strengthen local capacity for reporting, accessing, and using data responsibly Operational Compliance Ensure activities align with 3iS operational, security, procurement, and financial policies Coordinate closely with the Deputy Project Manager and support teams Required Qualifications Education University degree in International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Economics, Data Science, Information Management, or a related field Language Fluency in spoken and written English Fluency in spoken Hausa is mandatory Experience Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector Significant experience working in Nigeria At least 3 years of experience linked to data segregation, anticipatory action, development, or humanitarian-development nexus programming Proven collaboration with UN agencies and international and national NGOs Demonstrated experience in community engagement and participatory assessments Mandatory experience coordinating with local and national authorities Strong background in data analysis and information management, including dashboards, maps, and situation reports Experience bridging programmatic teams and technical development teams is highly desirable Skills and Competencies Deep understanding of Nigeria’s humanitarian coordination architecture and programme cycle Strong analytical and synthesis skills across qualitative and quantitative data Practical understanding of modern data concepts, including: Large Language Models Cloud computing Database systems Experience delivering capacity-building and training initiatives Certifications or training in Google Cloud Platform considered a strong asset Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills Ability to engage effectively with community members, humanitarian leadership, and software engineers Strategic, solutions-oriented, and results-driven mindset Willingness and ability to reside in or relocate to Sokoto at no cost to 3iS Accountability and Safeguarding 3iS personnel are expected to uphold accountability to affected populations in line with international humanitarian standards.
