About 3iS 3iS is a non-profit organisation specialising in information management solutions for humanitarian and development organisations. Through innovative data systems, geospatial analysis, and digital information management, the organisation helps partners improve decision-making and deliver targeted assistance to populations most in need. Its work also focuses on strengthening the capacity of local authorities and institutions, enabling them to develop sustainable and autonomous data management systems that improve planning, monitoring, and emergency response. Internship Overview The Information Management Systems Intern will become part of the Information Management team and support projects involving data collection, processing, validation, analysis, visualisation, and reporting. The successful candidate will also gain practical exposure to GIS mapping, dashboard development, database management, and digital data collection platforms used across humanitarian operations. Key Responsibilities The intern will contribute to several technical areas within humanitarian information management while developing practical professional skills. Information Management Responsibilities include collecting, cleaning, validating, and organising programme data from multiple sources. The intern will also assist with maintaining databases, updating information management systems, documenting workflows, and supporting standard operating procedures to ensure high-quality data management practices. Data Analysis and Reporting The role involves analysing programme data to support operational decision-making, preparing periodic reports and factsheets, generating statistical summaries, charts, and tables, and assisting with project monitoring indicators used for donor and internal reporting. GIS and Data Visualisation The successful candidate will help produce maps and geospatial products using GIS software while supporting the creation of dashboards and interactive visualisations through Microsoft Power BI and similar business intelligence tools. The intern will also contribute to infographics and other visual communication products for programme teams and partners. Digital Systems Support The internship provides practical experience with mobile data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox, ODK, and SurveyCTO. Duties include testing digital forms, supporting deployments, troubleshooting minor technical issues, and assisting with data backup, storage, and documentation processes. Eligibility Requirements 3iS is seeking motivated recent graduates with strong analytical potential rather than extensive professional experience. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or a closely related field: Information Management Computer Science Information Technology Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Statistics Data Science Computer Engineering Mathematics Candidates may have up to one year of experience, including internships, volunteer work, academic research projects, or other relevant practical experience in information management or data systems. Preferred Technical Skills While advanced expertise is not mandatory, applicants with foundational technical knowledge will be highly competitive.
