Join ACLED and make conflict data work for peace The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) is seeking a Senior Analyst for Europe & Central Asia to join its remote Analysis Department. ACLED is a leading global organization that provides accurate, accessible, and timely data and analysis to inform decisions that reduce violent conflict. With researchers and partners across all conflict zones, ACLED produces local insights to answer global questions. This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere with reliable internet service while contributing to region-specific research, analysis, and outreach initiatives. The Senior Analyst will report directly to the Analysis Manager and will be an integral part of shaping the way ACLED collects, analyzes, and disseminates conflict data in Europe and Central Asia. Why this role matters Violent conflict and political instability in Europe and Central Asia have complex and far-reaching effects, both regionally and globally. ACLED’s data-driven approach helps governments, NGOs, international organizations, and researchers understand emerging threats, monitor conflict trends, and develop interventions to prevent or mitigate harm. As a Senior Analyst, you will provide thought leadership, original research, and expert analysis to ensure ACLED’s outputs have maximum impact. You will also help strengthen the organization’s regional data coverage and improve the quality of insights delivered to key stakeholders. What you will do The Senior Analyst will engage in four main areas: Analysis Design and implement original research projects that enhance ACLED’s impact and innovation. Provide Europe and Central Asia-specific contributions to global reports, thematic outputs, and other analytical products. Oversee the production of regional outputs while collaborating with the Global Data Collection and Data Science teams. Provide expert commentary and analysis for outputs produced by the External Affairs team. Data Management Coordinate with the Global Data Collection and Data Science teams to ensure the accuracy and enrichment of regional data. Support methodological improvements and address regional data challenges in consultation with the Methodology team. Expand ACLED’s regional coverage by identifying new local sources or partners in Europe and Central Asia. Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement Provide expert analysis for donors, international stakeholders, and media organizations. Represent ACLED at briefings, conferences, and public events to disseminate research and insights. Build and maintain relationships with regional partners, NGOs, and data collection organizations. Provide training on data analysis for external partners as needed. Project Management Support and guide team members on analysis, data management, and outreach-related tasks. Contribute to funding proposals and project development to advance ACLED’s strategic goals. Lead externally funded projects or conflict observatories in Europe and Central Asia, where relevant. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will participate in internal strategy meetings, contribute to organizational development, and perform administrative and coordination tasks as required. Who we are looking for ACLED seeks candidates who combine strong analytical expertise with a deep understanding of regional conflict dynamics. Ideal candidates will possess: Extensive knowledge of Europe & Central Asia: Demonstrated expertise in political violence, security issues, and conflict dynamics in the region. Professional experience: Minimum five years of work experience in academia, government, NGOs, journalism, or international organizations, with a focus on conflict research. Education: Master’s degree in Political Science, Sociology, Geography, or related social sciences, preferably with a focus on conflict studies. Data proficiency: Familiarity with ACLED datasets, experience processing and analyzing complex datasets, and ability to produce clear narratives from data. Technical skills: Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools. Networking experience: Connections with local organizations documenting human rights violations or conflict data is highly desirable. Core competencies High attention to detail and the ability to incorporate feedback effectively. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting tight deadlines. Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with experience guiding small teams. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with fluency in English; Russian fluency is highly desired.
