The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data (ACLED) is inviting applications for the position of Associate Media and Digital Communications Officer – Latin America and Asia. This fully remote, full-time opportunity is designed for a communications professional with strong experience in media relations, journalism, digital storytelling, and multimedia content creation. Based within ACLED’s External Affairs department, the successful candidate will help communicate conflict research and real-time data to journalists, policymakers, specialist insurance and risk publications, and global digital audiences. The position offers a salary of USD 40,000 per year on an initial six-month contract, with the possibility of extension. ACLED’s External Affairs team plays a critical role in ensuring that complex conflict data is translated into accessible, engaging, and accurate communications for both specialist and public audiences. About the Role The Associate Media and Digital Communications Officer will support ACLED’s communications strategy across Latin America, Asia, and specialist Insurance and Risk sectors. Reporting to the Media Relations Manager, the officer will contribute to media outreach, digital content production, multimedia communications, webinars, podcasts, and cross-platform messaging. This is an ideal opportunity for a bilingual communications professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced international environment while collaborating with researchers, analysts, journalists, and digital communications specialists. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide communications support across several core areas of ACLED’s external engagement. Media Relations Responsibilities include: Building and maintaining relationships with journalists across Latin America, Asia, and specialist sectors. Drafting press releases, media advisories, background materials, briefing notes, and quotes. Coordinating interviews and responding to media enquiries. Maintaining journalist databases and media contact lists. Monitoring media coverage and supporting communications performance reporting. Preparing talking points, messaging documents, and interview materials. Assisting with media training and interview preparation. Digital Communications The officer will work closely with ACLED’s social media team to: Create engaging social media posts and campaigns. Design graphics and multimedia assets. Produce short-form video content for digital platforms. Ensure consistent branding, messaging, tone, and factual accuracy across all communications channels. Podcasts, Webinars and Multimedia Additional responsibilities include: Supporting the planning, recording, and editing of podcasts and webinars. Coordinating guests and scheduling interviews. Researching discussion topics and preparing scripts or content outlines. Assisting with basic video production and short news clips. The role may occasionally require out-of-hours work as part of a rotating communications schedule, with time off provided in lieu. Limited travel for conferences, meetings, or filming projects may also be required. Eligibility Criteria ACLED is seeking candidates with excellent bilingual communication skills and experience in professional media or digital communications. Applicants should possess: A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, media, international relations, or a related field. Two to four years of experience in media relations or journalism. Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken. Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication abilities. Experience translating technical or research-based information into engaging public content. Experience creating digital communications materials, including graphics, social media content, and short-form videos. Familiarity with audio or video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Audacity, Descript, or similar tools. Experience using media monitoring tools, journalist databases, or digital analytics platforms. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and rapidly changing priorities. Knowledge of either the Latin American or Asia-Pacific media landscape is considered essential for success in this position. Desirable Skills Candidates will be particularly competitive if they also have experience in: Insurance and Risk media publications. Additional language proficiency beyond English and Spanish. Asana or other project management platforms. SEO and digital analytics. Campaign communications and event support. Communications within academic, policy, or data-driven organizations.
