Operating as a fully remote organisation, ACLED collaborates with researchers and partners across crisis-affected regions to deliver local insights for global decision-making. ACLED’s work supports policymakers, researchers, humanitarian actors, and risk professionals in understanding and responding to patterns of conflict and instability. Role Overview The Associate Media and Digital Communications Officer will join ACLED’s External Affairs Team, supporting media relations and digital communications efforts. The role focuses particularly on analysis related to Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia-Pacific regions, as well as engagement with specialist outlets covering Insurance and Risk. Reporting to the Media Relations Manager, the postholder will assist in drafting media materials, coordinating outreach, monitoring coverage, and contributing to digital and multimedia content production. The role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, globally distributed work environment. Key Responsibilities Media Relations Support Build and maintain media knowledge and journalist contacts across designated regions and specialist sectors. Draft press releases, media advisories, quotes, and background materials under guidance. Support responses to media inquiries and coordinate interviews. Maintain journalist databases and media monitoring systems. Track media coverage and contribute to KPI reporting. Prepare talking points, briefings, and messaging documents. Assist in media training preparation and interview rehearsals. Digital Communications Collaborate with social media colleagues to ensure consistent messaging across platforms. Develop digital content, including posts, graphics, short-form videos, and multimedia assets. Ensure content reflects ACLED’s branding, tone, and analytical accuracy. Podcasts, Webinars, and Multimedia Assist in planning, recording, and editing podcasts and webinars. Coordinate guest scheduling and preparation of scripts or content outlines. Provide basic video production support for short news clips and multimedia outputs. General Duties Produce timely communications aligned with current news cycles and data releases. Support media training logistics and materials development. Participate in an out-of-hours duty rota (with time off in lieu). Travel occasionally for conferences, meetings, or recording projects, if required. Candidate Profile ACLED seeks a mid-level communications professional with experience in media relations, journalism, or digital communications. Essential Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree with 2–4 years of relevant professional experience. Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex data into accessible narratives. Understanding of media landscapes and digital communication principles. Experience creating social media posts, graphics, and short-form video content. Familiarity with audio or video editing tools (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Premiere, Descript, or similar). Experience using media monitoring tools or digital analytics platforms. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across global teams. Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken). Knowledge of Tier 1 media commissioning processes. Familiarity with the Latin American media landscape. Desirable Skills Knowledge of specialist Insurance and Risk sector outlets. Additional language proficiency. Experience using ASANA or similar project management tools. Background in academic, policy, or data-driven communications. Understanding of SEO and digital analytics best practices. Experience supporting campaigns, events, or cross-team coordination. Working Environment ACLED operates as a fully remote organisation, offering flexibility while maintaining high standards of collaboration and output. Staff work across multiple time zones, requiring strong communication skills and proactive coordination. The role may involve occasional travel for conferences or multimedia production support. Participation in a duty rota for urgent communications is required, with compensatory time off provided.
