The Africa Climate Collaborative, based at the University of Ghana, has announced its Graduate Internship Programme for National Service Persons for the 2026/2027 academic year. The programme is delivered in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and is designed to support young graduates with practical experience in climate change, sustainability, and development-focused research and operations. The initiative targets final-year undergraduate students in Ghana who demonstrate a strong interest in environmental sustainability and climate action, with the aim of building skills aligned with green development and climate resilience. Programme Overview The internship programme is structured to provide hands-on professional exposure within a climate-focused research and implementation environment hosted at the University of Ghana. Academic Fields Eligible Applicants are invited from a wide range of academic disciplines that align with climate research, data systems, communication, and environmental management. Eligible academic backgrounds include: Data Analytics, Mathematics, and Statistics Geography and Environmental Sciences Computer Science and Engineering Finance and Accounting Procurement and Logistics Languages and Communication Studies Social Sciences and Environmental Studies Communications and Social Media Management This multidisciplinary approach reflects the collaborative nature of climate action, which requires both technical and social expertise. Applicant Requirements Candidates applying for the Graduate Internship Programme are expected to meet the following criteria: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong organisational and communication skills Ability to work independently and within team structures Demonstrated interest in climate change and sustainability issues Final-year undergraduate status at a recognised university in Ghana In addition, the programme encourages inclusive participation, with preference and encouragement extended to: Females Persons with disabilities Displaced persons and refugees Youth aged 18–35 Skills and Competencies The internship programme prioritises practical competencies that support climate research and project implementation. Key expected competencies include: Digital literacy and data handling skills Effective written and verbal communication Organisational and task management ability Team collaboration in multidisciplinary environments Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability Basic understanding of sustainability challenges These skills are intended to prepare interns for future roles in climate policy, environmental research, development planning, and related sectors.
