Alight is inviting applications for the FutureKind Strategic Catalyst, a full-time Program Development position based in Nairobi, Kenya. This exciting opportunity is designed for experienced professionals with a passion for innovation, partnerships, storytelling, and humanitarian impact. Working within FutureKind, Alight’s innovation platform, the successful candidate will help co-create bold solutions with displaced communities, governments, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and researchers to shape the future of displacement. The role involves frequent travel to Uganda and Rwanda and requires applicants to already possess the legal right to work in Kenya, as visa sponsorship is not available. About Alight and FutureKind For nearly five decades, Alight has partnered with people displaced by conflict and crisis to help them rebuild meaningful lives. Rather than viewing affected populations as beneficiaries, Alight refers to them as customers, emphasizing dignity, choice, and collaboration in humanitarian response. FutureKind serves as Alight’s flagship innovation platform, bringing together diverse stakeholders to discover, test, and scale new ideas that enable displaced people to build futures they value from the moment displacement begins. The initiative focuses on listening deeply to communities, experimenting with innovative approaches, and transforming promising concepts into impactful programmes and partnerships. About the FutureKind Strategic Catalyst Role The FutureKind Strategic Catalyst plays a central role in discovering opportunities, shaping strategic ideas, developing compelling narratives, and mobilizing partnerships that strengthen FutureKind’s growing portfolio. Reporting to the Director of FutureKind Strategy, the Catalyst will collaborate across Alight’s Office of the Customer, fundraising teams, governments, philanthropic organizations, designers, academics, and community leaders to turn innovative ideas into funded initiatives with lasting social impact. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working across sectors, facilitating collaboration, building influential relationships, and communicating complex ideas in inspiring ways. Key Responsibilities The position is divided across three strategic areas of responsibility. Opportunity Discovery and Idea Generation (30%) The Catalyst will identify emerging opportunities by engaging directly with displaced communities, host populations, governments, and development partners. Responsibilities include facilitating co-creation workshops, conducting community conversations, and uncovering innovative ideas that respond to real-world challenges. Narrative Development and Thought Leadership (30%) Working alongside the Director of FutureKind Strategy, the successful candidate will help transform research and community insights into compelling proposals, presentations, fundraising materials, strategic communications, and thought leadership content. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively with audiences ranging from refugee settlements to executive boardrooms and international conferences. Partnership Building and Movement Mobilization (40%) The largest component of the role focuses on developing strategic partnerships across philanthropy, government, business, academia, technology, and media. The Catalyst will cultivate high-value relationships, organize collaborative convenings, represent FutureKind externally, and contribute to building a global movement around innovative approaches to displacement and human dignity. Who Should Apply? Alight is seeking professionals with significant experience in partnership development, innovation, fundraising, or strategic programme development within humanitarian, social impact, nonprofit, or purpose-driven organizations. Ideal candidates should possess: At least 7 years of relevant professional experience Proven success developing partnerships and securing funding opportunities Experience working with donors, senior leaders, and cross-sector partners Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills Excellent proposal writing, strategic communication, and storytelling abilities Demonstrated ability to translate complex ideas into practical initiatives Experience placing customers and communities at the centre of solution design Applicants should also be comfortable working in fast-changing environments, traveling regularly to refugee settlements, and collaborating respectfully across diverse cultural contexts. Location and Eligibility The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, with frequent travel to Uganda and Rwanda. Applicants must already have legal authorization to work in Kenya.
