ALIMA seeks a dedicated Research Manager to support its mission in Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria. Guided by principles of humanity, impartiality, and ethical medical practice, ALIMA prioritises patient-centred care, innovation, responsibility, trust, and environmental consciousness. Since 2009, ALIMA has delivered care to more than 13 million patients across 12 African countries and Haiti. The organisation partners with national health systems and local NGOs to ensure sustainable service delivery while conducting cutting-edge clinical and operational research, particularly in maternal and child health, nutrition, and emerging infectious diseases. In Nigeria, ALIMA’s work spans North-East, North-West, and Ondo State, providing medical support, outbreak response, and research on Lassa Fever and child health. Role Purpose The Research Manager will serve as ALIMA’s representative at the Owo Research Project, ensuring the effective implementation of the INTEGRATE clinical trial in close collaboration with ALIMA’s research teams in France, Abuja coordination, the Federal Medical Centre Owo (FMCO), and other stakeholders. The role requires strict adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), national guidelines, and ALIMA’s research protocols. The Research Manager will also support quality medical care at the Lassa Fever treatment centre and contribute to strengthening the overall humanitarian response. Key Responsibilities Clinical Trial ManagementThe Research Manager oversees the full implementation of the INTEGRATE trial at the Owo site. Responsibilities include:• Coordinating activities between field teams, research partners, and local authorities.• Supervising physicians, nurses, and all clinical research personnel to ensure compliance with protocol and GCP.• Organising training sessions on clinical trial procedures.• Managing patient recruitment, follow-up planning, adherence monitoring, appointment scheduling, and reminders.• Ensuring quality communication between the research laboratory and the Lassa treatment centre.• Identifying, documenting, and reporting adverse and serious adverse events.• Maintaining adequate stocks of trial medications and equipment.• Supporting collaboration with hospital departments including emergency, pediatrics, dialysis, and gynecology. Medical and Operational ResponsibilitiesBeyond research activities, the Research Manager will contribute to ensuring high-quality medical care. Duties include:• Supporting adherence to ALIMA and FMCO clinical standards and national guidelines.• Participating in epidemiological surveillance and contributing to planning for outbreaks, emergencies, and public health coordination meetings.• Monitoring medication use and preventing stock-outs, working closely with pharmacy teams.• Providing guidance on medical orders, procurement, and budget monitoring to ensure efficient operations.• Supporting improvements in infection prevention and control and quality of care delivery. Required Profile Education and Professional Experience• Master’s degree in Medicine (MMED), Clinical Research, Epidemiology, or Public Health.• Minimum one year of clinical research experience, ideally with clinical trials.• Prior medical practice experience required; experience with viral haemorrhagic fevers is an advantage.• Experience with ALIMA or similar humanitarian organisations is desirable.• Background in community health activities is an asset. Technical and Professional Skills• Strong knowledge of medical management, VHF protocols, and clinical research processes.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and essential digital tools.• Ability to deliver training and support capacity-building for staff.• Excellent communication, negotiation, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity skills.• Ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency settings.• Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.• Commitment to ALIMA’s values and willingness to travel within Nigeria. Languages• Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Contract Conditions • Contract Type: Fixed-term, 12 months, renewable.• Location: Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria.• Compensation: Competitive salary aligned with ALIMA’s scale, including experience evaluation and per diem.• ALIMA provides international travel, housing support upon arrival, full medical cover for the employee and family from contract start to one month after departure, as well as evacuation coverage.
