Young peacebuilders from selected African and European countries are being invited to apply for the Amani Pamoja (Peace Together) Training Course on Advocacy and Dialogue Skills for Peace, taking place in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, Spain. The initiative is designed for young people involved in youth-led and youth-focused organizations working on peacebuilding. It will focus on strengthening participants’ advocacy, policy dialogue and peacebuilding skills while creating opportunities for international exchange, collaboration and partnership development. The training course will take place from November 27 to December 3, 2026, including travel days, and will bring together young participants from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Germany, Spain and Italy. About the Amani Pamoja Peace Training The Amani Pamoja initiative is a collaboration between Agency for Peace in Italy, Centre for Youth Dialogue in Tanzania, Fundació Catalunya Voluntaria in Spain, Lamu Youth Alliance in Kenya, and Peace Up!/Youth Peace Ambassadors Network in Germany. The project aims to establish a transnational and intercontinental learning alliance connecting young people across six participating countries. Its broader goal is to strengthen young people’s capacity to participate in decision-making processes related to peace and security, particularly for those who face barriers to political participation or are affected by violence and discrimination. Training Course Objectives The programme has three main objectives focused on increasing the role of young people in peacebuilding and policy processes. These objectives are to: Raise awareness of youth-led peacebuilding efforts. Promote meaningful youth participation in peace and security initiatives. Empower young people to influence policies linked to the Youth, Peace and Security agenda. The training also has specific objectives focused on strengthening advocacy and policy dialogue capacities among young leaders and their organizations. Participants will have opportunities to: Develop social and political advocacy skills. Strengthen policy dialogue abilities. Engage with policy-makers at local and national levels. Learn about the Youth, Peace and Security agenda. Explore relevant policies and mechanisms, including the EU Youth Strategy. Develop partnerships and alliances with other young peacebuilders. What Participants Will Learn The course will focus on practical skills for social and political advocacy on peace-related issues. Participants will exchange experiences and explore how young people and organizations can increase their impact on society and decision-making processes. Key areas will include: Youth participation. Conflict prevention. Reintegration. Protection. Partnership and alliance building. Mobilizing young people for peacebuilding. Dialogue with political representatives. Addressing social needs affecting vulnerable groups. Youth, women, refugees and minorities in peacebuilding. The programme will also introduce participants to peacebuilding initiatives, networks and organizations operating in their respective countries. Training Structure and Dates The activity consists of four main components: three preparatory online meetings followed by an in-person course in Spain. Selected participants must commit to attending all four components. The programme includes: Three online preparatory meetings in October and November 2026. Online sessions lasting a maximum of two hours each. A five-day in-person training course. Travel days associated with the international mobility. In-person activities from November 27 to December 3, 2026. The programme will bring together 24 young peacebuilders from the six participating countries, alongside members of the international steering committee who will contribute as trainers, reporters and facilitators. Overall participation is expected to involve 30 people. Eligibility Requirements The opportunity is open to young adults with an interest in peacebuilding and experience in peace initiatives. Applicants must meet the following criteria: Be aged 18–29 if residing in Europe. Be aged 18–35 if residing in East Africa. Demonstrate interest in applying the course’s learning. Be involved in a youth-led or youth-focused group or organization. Have the ability to communicate in English at approximately B2 level. Have legal residency in one of the participating countries. The participating countries are Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Germany, Spain and Italy. Priority will be given to individuals who have not previously participated in international exchange programmes and/or who experience barriers to participating in international activities. Costs Covered by Erasmus+ Selected participants will receive financial support through an Erasmus+ grant. The grant covers major costs associated with participation in the international mobility, including: Travel to and from the training venue. Accommodation. Food and subsistence. Local transport. Training and activity materials. Some minor expenses, including certain visa fees or specific insurance costs, may not be fully covered by the grant. Participants will receive further information about cost coverage from their sending organization during the selection process. Participants are responsible for completing the necessary visa procedures for entry into Spain. The coordinating and host organizations will provide assistance, including an invitation letter and hotel confirmation.
