The AMEL – The African Middle Eastern Leadership Project has officially opened applications for the Spring 2026 cohort of the AMEL Institute, its flagship online activist training program for emerging leaders across the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Designed to empower the next generation of changemakers, the AMEL Institute equips young activists with the knowledge, practical skills, and networks needed to create safe, inclusive, and impactful social change in their communities. What Is the AMEL Institute? The AMEL Institute is a fully online, interactive leadership program focused on activism, civic engagement, and democratic values. It brings together young leaders from across the MEA region to engage in meaningful dialogue, build leadership capacity, and develop tools for responsible and effective advocacy. The Spring 2026 program will run from late March to late May 2026 and is completely free of charge for all selected participants. Program Focus Areas Participants in the AMEL Institute explore a wide range of themes essential to ethical and sustainable activism, including: Human rights and international frameworks Peacebuilding and conflict resolution Democratic participation and civic engagement Inclusive leadership practices Safe activism strategies Community organizing and advocacy Through live sessions, discussions, collaborative exercises, and mentorship opportunities, participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical tools that can be applied in real-world contexts.
