Apply for the Alstom Foundation 2026 Funding Cycle
globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

March 22, 2026

Description

The Alstom Foundation 2026 funding cycle opens on February 16, 2026, offering NGOs worldwide the opportunity to secure support for impactful community projects. The online submission platform will remain open until April 10, 2026 (11:59 pm CET). Organizations seeking funding for sustainable development, environmental initiatives, mobility access, or essential services should prepare early to ensure eligibility and compliance with Foundation guidelines. Key Focus Areas of the Alstom Foundation The Alstom Foundation funds projects that create long-term, measurable impact across four strategic pillars: 1. Economic and Social Development This focus area promotes sustainable growth and inclusive opportunities, particularly for vulnerable populations. Funded initiatives typically include: Skills development and employability programs for disadvantaged youth and women Support for street children, orphans, and foster children Training initiatives that enable long-term job creation Projects must demonstrate tangible improvements in employability, education, or social integration. 2. Environmental Protection Environmental sustainability remains a core commitment of the Foundation. Supported projects aim to: Protect biodiversity and natural habitats Raise environmental awareness within communities Strengthen resilience to natural disasters Initiatives aligned with climate adaptation, conservation, and ecological restoration are strongly encouraged. 3. Access to Mobility Mobility plays a critical role in economic inclusion. The Foundation supports projects that improve the movement of people and goods, particularly in remote or underserved communities. Enhanced mobility can unlock access to markets, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities — creating ripple effects for sustainable development. 4. Access to Energy and Water Globally, millions still lack reliable electricity and safe drinking water. The Foundation prioritizes projects that: Expand access to electricity in remote areas Improve access to safe and sustainable water systems Raise living standards through essential infrastructure These initiatives directly contribute to long-term improvements in health, education, and economic participation. Selection Criteria for Project Funding To qualify for Alstom Foundation funding, each project must: Align with one or more of the Foundation’s key areas Serve the general interest Be located in a country where Alstom operates Deliver measurable outcomes and community impact Be realistic in scope, budget, and timeline Involve local stakeholders and management teams Be implemented by a competent and established partner NGO Comply with the Foundation’s Ethics Charter Be submitted in the same country where the Alstom employee promoter is based Important: Each NGO may submit only one project per cycle. International NGOs operating in multiple countries must select a single country for submission. The Role of the Alstom Project Promoter Every project must be submitted by an NGO in partnership with an Alstom employee who serves as the Project Promoter. The Promoter must: Be based in the country where the project is implemented Assist in preparing and validating the submission Support project monitoring if selected Potentially visit project sites and participate in activities Each Alstom employee may sponsor only one project per year. If an NGO does not have an Alstom contact, the Foundation Secretariat may help identify a volunteer promoter. However, requests for promoter support must be submitted by March 13, 2026, and assistance is not guaranteed. How to Submit a Project The online submission process is structured and user-friendly: Applicants complete preformatted forms designed to optimize clarity and impact Each form includes guidance to assist with project descriptions Drafts can be saved and completed later Once submitted, the review process begins automatically Confirmation is sent via email Organizations are encouraged to thoroughly review their applications before final submission. Timeline for the 2026 Funding Cycle February 10 – March 13: Project definition and preparation with partners March 13: Deadline to request help finding a Project Promoter April 10: Final submission deadline Mid-September: Board selection of funded projects Post-Selection: Contract signature with detailed objectives, budget, and timeline Implementation: Ongoing monitoring throughout the year Eligible Countries Projects must be located in countries where Alstom has an established presence. Applicants should verify eligibility before beginning the submission process. Why Apply to the Alstom Foundation? The Alstom Foundation supports high-impact, community-driven initiatives that promote sustainable development, environmental responsibility, and access to essential services. Through collaboration between NGOs and Alstom employees, the Foundation ensures projects are locally grounded, measurable, and built for long-term success. Organizations ready to make a meaningful difference are encouraged to begin preparing their proposals early for the 2026 cycle.
