Young people passionate about peacebuilding, social change, and political advocacy are invited to apply for the Amani Pamoja Peace Advocacy Course 2026 in Spain. The international learning opportunity will bring together young adults from participating African and European countries to strengthen their skills in peace advocacy, participation, prevention, protection, reintegration, and partnership building. Organized as part of the Amani Pamoja (Peace Together) initiative, the programme seeks to create a transnational and intercontinental learning alliance that empowers young people to participate meaningfully in decision-making processes related to peace and security. The course will take place in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, Spain, and selected participants will benefit from support for travel, accommodation, food, local transportation, and course materials through an Erasmus+ grant. About the Amani Pamoja Initiative Amani Pamoja, meaning “Peace Together,” is designed to connect young people and organizations across six participating countries. The initiative focuses on developing the competencies young people need to become active participants in decision-making spaces related to peace and security. A major objective is to strengthen the political influence and advocacy abilities of young people, particularly those who experience barriers to participation and those affected by violence and discrimination. Through international learning and collaboration, participants will have opportunities to exchange experiences, ideas, and knowledge about practical peacebuilding and advocacy. Developing Peace Advocacy Skills in Barcelona The Developing Peace Advocacy Skills and Building New Alliances course has been assembled by 24 young people from the six participating countries. The programme is designed for young adults who are passionate about peace and already have some experience in peace initiatives. Participants will explore practical questions such as how to implement actions that create wider social impact, how to mobilize more young people and organizations around peacebuilding, and how to establish productive dialogue with political representatives. The course will also address key areas including: Youth participation in peace and security processes Conflict prevention Reintegration Protection of vulnerable communities Partnership and alliance building Social and political advocacy Youth participation in decision-making Mobilizing young people for peace initiatives Participants will learn alongside other European and African youth while developing the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to advocate effectively for social and political change. Programme Structure The activity consists of four components that selected participants must attend in full. The first three components are preparatory online meetings scheduled for October and November 2026. Each online meeting will last a maximum of two hours. The fourth component is the five-day in-person course in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, combined with two travel days. The in-person activity will take place from November 27 to December 3, 2026. In total, approximately 30 people will participate in the activity. This includes six members of the international steering committee, who will contribute as trainers, reporters, and facilitators representing the six partner organizations. Who Can Apply? The opportunity is intended for young adults who are actively involved in youth-led or youth-focused organizations and have a strong interest in peacebuilding. Applicants must meet the following selection criteria: Be between 18 and 29 years old. Demonstrate interest in and motivation to apply the knowledge gained through the course. Be part of a youth-led or youth-focused group or organization. Have the ability to communicate in English at approximately B2 level. Have legal residency in one of the participating countries. Priority will be given to individuals who have not previously participated in international exchange programmes and/or those who face barriers to accessing international mobility and exchange opportunities. This makes the course particularly relevant for emerging youth leaders who may have limited access to international programmes but are already contributing to peacebuilding or community initiatives. Funding and Financial Support The Amani Pamoja course is supported through an Erasmus+ grant, allowing selected participants to attend the international mobility activity with major expenses covered. The grant covers: Travel costs to and from the venue Accommodation Subsistence costs, including food Local transportation Course materials However, participants should be aware that some minor expenses may not be completely covered. These can include certain visa fees or specific insurance requirements. During the selection process, the participant’s sending organization will provide detailed information explaining exactly which costs are covered. Participants are responsible for completing the necessary procedures to obtain a visa to enter Spain. The coordinating and host organizations will support the visa process by providing documents such as an invitation letter and hotel confirmation. Application Deadline Applicants should carefully check the deadline applicable to their country of residence. For residents of Africa, the application deadline is August 16. For residents of Europe, the application deadline is September 16. Applicants will be informed of the selection results by email following the assessment process. Because the African deadline stated in the call has already passed, prospective applicants should verify with the relevant partner organization whether applications are still being accepted or whether additional opportunities are available.
