Description

The Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme (GCYLP) is an initiative led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with the ITU-D Sector Member, Huawei. This one-year leadership programme is designed to empower young digital changemakers by providing them with the tools, mentorship, and resources needed to implement digital development projects in their communities globally. Each year, the programme selects 30 fellows who benefit from comprehensive guidance, training, and financial support. The initiative aims to foster innovation, digital literacy, and sustainable impact among young leaders across diverse regions. Programme Overview GCYLP focuses on nurturing leadership, technical skills, and social impact. Key components include: Mentorship and Guidance: Fellows receive support from ITU experts, industry professionals, and community leaders to shape their project ideas. Training Opportunities: Participants engage in workshops, webinars, and learning sessions covering digital development, leadership, and innovation. Financial Support: Each fellow receives funding to implement practical digital projects within their communities. Global Network: The programme connects young leaders from diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds, encouraging collaboration and peer learning. Eligibility and Application Process To be considered for the 3rd cohort of GCYLP fellows, applicants must complete the official application form by 23:59 CET on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. Application Requirements: Completed online application form If shortlisted, submission of supporting documents: Valid identification Proof of studies Two reference contacts Short video message demonstrating motivation and vision The programme is conducted entirely in English, and all communications, including training, mentorship, and project documentation, will be in English.
