About the Internship The Graduate Climate Mitigation Intern will work closely with the Climate Mitigation team in New York, supporting research and project activities focused on clean energy and decarbonization programmes. The internship is designed for graduate students with an academic background in climate change, clean energy, sustainability, environmental policy, or related fields. Interns will gain practical exposure to climate policy processes, environmental advocacy, and conservation strategies while collaborating with experienced professionals at The Nature Conservancy. Internship Responsibilities The selected intern will support various climate and clean energy initiatives across the New York Division. Responsibilities include: Conducting research related to climate mitigation and clean energy Supporting decarbonization programmes and environmental initiatives Assisting in drafting responses to climate and clean energy regulatory proceedings Collaborating with the Director and other New York staff members Synthesizing information and preparing research materials Contributing to conservation and sustainability strategy goals The role operates under close or infrequent supervision depending on assignments and project requirements. Eligibility Criteria Applicants interested in the Graduate Climate Mitigation Internship should meet the following requirements: Hold a BA/BS degree Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme Have an academic focus on clean energy, climate change, sustainability, or related disciplines Demonstrate research and analytical skills Have experience synthesizing information and preparing reports Familiarity with New York State climate or energy issues is considered an advantage. Preferred Qualifications The Nature Conservancy is also seeking candidates who possess: Multilingual or cross-cultural experience Strong teamwork and collaboration skills Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with colleagues Interest in environmental sustainability and conservation policy Internship Location and Duration Location: Remote – New York, United States Internship Type: Full-time Internship Period: Fall 2026 The role is fully remote, allowing eligible participants to contribute virtually while supporting climate mitigation work in New York. Salary and Benefits The internship offers competitive compensation for selected candidates. Hourly Pay: USD 20 per hour (for candidates employed in the USA) Compensation for candidates outside the United States may vary according to local labor market standards and currency regulations.
