The South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) has officially opened applications for its External Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year. This bursary initiative is designed to support unemployed South African youth who demonstrate a strong commitment to furthering their education and investing in their long-term career development. Through this programme, SANAS aims to contribute to skills development and educational access by providing financial support to eligible students pursuing recognised qualifications at accredited institutions. Purpose of the Bursary Programme The SANAS External Bursary Programme seeks to: Support unemployed South African youth to access higher education Promote skills development aligned with national priorities Reduce financial barriers to tertiary education Invest in the future workforce through education and training What the Bursary Covers The bursary provides tuition-only funding for approved qualifications, as outlined below: National Diploma or Degree: Funding of up to R50,000 Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma: Funding of up to R70,000 Please note that the bursary does not cover accommodation, textbooks, transport, or living expenses.
