Blue Resilience Intern (Home-Based) – UNDP Nature Hub The United Nations Development Programme is recruiting a Blue Resilience Intern to support its Nature Hub under the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS). This internship contributes to global work on sustainable ocean governance and combating organized crime in fisheries. The role is home-based, with the possibility of travel to support a major international event in Copenhagen, Denmark later in the year. Position Overview Organization: United Nations Development Programme Programme: Nature Hub – Bureau for Policy and Programme Support Position: Blue Resilience Intern Location: Home-based (with potential travel) Duration: 5 months Application Deadline: 9 March 2026 The intern will support the Blue Resilience project, which works to strengthen international cooperation against organized crime in the global fishing industry. This project is supported by the Norwegian government through the Blue Justice Initiative. About the Blue Resilience Project The Blue Resilience initiative helps countries strengthen governance systems to address crimes linked to fisheries and marine resources. The project supports the implementation of the Copenhagen Declaration on Transnational Organized Crime in the Global Fishing Industry, which encourages governments to cooperate in preventing illegal activities in the fishing sector. Through technical support, training, and digital collaboration tools, the project assists governments in tackling issues such as: Illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing Organized crime linked to fishing operations Maritime trafficking networks Weak fisheries governance systems A key part of the project is the Blue Justice Community, a secure digital platform used by government agencies to share vessel-tracking information and collaborate on investigations. Key Responsibilities 1. Supporting the Blue Justice User Gathering (50%) The intern will assist in organizing the 2026 Blue Justice Community User Gathering, an annual international meeting bringing together operational experts from government agencies around the world. Responsibilities include: Participating in planning meetings and drafting meeting minutes Scheduling coordination meetings with donors and partners Supporting the development of concept notes and invitations Assisting with event programme and agenda preparation Managing the participant registration list Distributing logistics information to participants Maintaining shared document repositories Responding to participant and stakeholder inquiries Supporting travel arrangements for participants The event is expected to take place in November 2026 at UN City in Copenhagen. 2. Event Logistics and On-Site Support (10%) During the event, the intern may assist with: Participant registration and coordination Security access procedures Liaising with UN City services (technical teams, facilities, catering) Taking notes during sessions Supporting communications and social media updates Because of travel budget constraints, candidates located closer to Denmark may receive preference. 3. Post-Event Support (20%) After the event, the intern will help with: Drafting the official User Gathering report Preparing and sending appreciation messages to participants and partners 4. General Project Support (20%) Additional tasks may include: Supporting activities related to the Blue Justice Community platform Drafting communication and social media content Updating the project activity tracker weekly Providing administrative and coordination support across project activities Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet at least one of the following educational criteria: Currently enrolled in a master’s degree or postgraduate program In the final year of a bachelor’s degree A recent graduate (within one year) Enrolled in a professional traineeship programme Relevant fields of study include: Environmental management Environmental policy Sustainable development Environmental economics International relations Communications Sustainability management Preferred Skills and Experience Ideal candidates should demonstrate: Strong organizational and coordination skills Ability to work collaboratively with international teams Experience with report writing or research Interest in maritime governance and international cooperation Knowledge of digital collaboration tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams Additional advantages include: Experience creating social media content Experience supporting multi-stakeholder projects Familiarity with event or workshop coordination Language Requirement Applicants must demonstrate: Fluency in English Internship Conditions The internship follows the policy of the United Nations Development Programme regarding interns.
