globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

October 31, 2026

Description

Professionals, students, researchers and individuals interested in climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity and landscape restoration have an opportunity to participate in an online course focused on Agroforestry for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Landscapes. The online programme will run from 2 to 27 November 2026 and will explore how agroforestry can contribute to resilient, biodiverse and sustainable landscapes. Participants will examine practical approaches that connect environmental sustainability, livelihoods and climate resilience. The course will be delivered online in English, making it accessible to participants from different countries. Applications are currently open, with the deadline set for 4 October 2026 at 23:59 CET. Agroforestry for Climate Resilience Course 2026 – Key Details Course: Agroforestry for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Landscapes Format: Online Language: English Dates: 2–27 November 2026 Study commitment: Approximately 5 hours per week Learning format: E-learning system with theoretical modules and five live Zoom sessions Application deadline: 4 October 2026, 23:59 CET What Will Participants Learn? The course is designed to provide participants with a broader understanding of agroforestry and its contribution to environmental, social and economic resilience. One of the central areas of learning will be the principles of agroforestry and how these approaches can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants will explore the relationship between trees, agriculture, ecosystems and sustainable development. The course will also examine the role of agroforestry in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services. Agroforestry systems can bring together agricultural production and ecological functions, making them relevant to discussions around sustainable land use and environmental protection. Participants will further explore integrated landscape and restoration approaches, with a focus on creating landscapes that are better able to respond to environmental and climate-related pressures. Climate Resilience and Sustainable Landscapes Climate change is increasing pressure on agricultural systems, ecosystems and rural livelihoods in many parts of the world. Agroforestry provides one approach for considering agricultural production alongside environmental restoration and ecosystem management. Through the course, participants will examine how agroforestry can contribute to more climate-resilient and sustainable landscapes. The programme is intended to provide perspectives that can be adapted to different geographical and social contexts. The learning experience will combine theoretical content with live online sessions, giving participants opportunities to engage with the subject beyond self-paced study. Economic Opportunities and Sustainable Livelihoods The course also considers the economic dimension of agroforestry. Participants will explore sustainable livelihoods, economic opportunities and market potential associated with agroforestry. This provides an opportunity to understand agroforestry not only as an environmental approach but also as an area connected to rural economies, livelihoods and sustainable development. Understanding these links can be particularly relevant for individuals working or studying in agriculture, environmental management, climate change, rural development and related fields. Environmental Ethics and Participation Another component of the course focuses on environmental ethics and participatory approaches in agroforestry and land management. Sustainable landscape management involves more than technical knowledge. It can also involve questions about how decisions are made, how communities participate and how environmental considerations are incorporated into land-management practices. Participants will therefore develop a broader perspective on the ecological, social and economic dimensions of agroforestry. Who Should Consider the Course? The programme may be particularly relevant to individuals interested in: Agroforestry and sustainable agriculture Climate change and climate resilience Biodiversity conservation Ecosystem restoration Sustainable landscapes Rural development and livelihoods Environmental management Sustainable development and the SDGs Land management Agricultural and environmental research The organisers have specifically stated that women are particularly encouraged to apply, highlighting an effort to encourage greater participation by women in the programme. Because the course is delivered online, participants can undertake the learning programme remotely while managing approximately five hours of study each week. Online Learning Format The course combines an e-learning system containing theoretical modules with five live Zoom sessions. This structure provides participants with flexibility to work through learning materials while also participating in scheduled live sessions. The total expected commitment is approximately five hours per week during the four-week course period. The programme therefore offers an opportunity for participants to explore agroforestry without needing to relocate or attend a physical training centre. Application Deadline Interested applicants should complete their applications before the deadline of 4 October 2026 at 23:59 CET. With the application deadline approaching, prospective participants should review the complete course information and application requirements as soon as possible. Final Thoughts The Agroforestry for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Landscapes course provides an opportunity to explore the connections between agroforestry, climate resilience, biodiversity, restoration, sustainable livelihoods and responsible land management. Running from 2–27 November 2026, the online programme requires approximately five hours per week and combines theoretical e-learning with five live Zoom sessions. Individuals interested in sustainable agriculture, climate action, environmental conservation, rural livelihoods and landscape restoration can consider applying before the 4 October 2026 deadline.
