Young Professionals Programme (YPP) The Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is now open for applications. This programme offers a structured, two-year on-the-job learning opportunity designed to develop high-potential young professionals and equip them with practical skills and exposure in areas aligned with Intellectual Property (IP) and related administrative functions. Position Details Position Title: Young Professionals Programme (YPP) Duty Station: Harare, Zimbabwe Reports To: Director Job Type: Fixed-term Contract (Non-renewable) Duration: Two (2) years Available Slots: Four (4) Application Deadline: 24 January 2026 Programme Purpose The Young Professionals Programme is a well-structured learning and development initiative aimed at grooming and nurturing talented young professionals from diverse academic backgrounds. The programme seeks to: Build practical skills aligned with the technical and administrative aspects of Intellectual Property Provide hands-on professional experience in a regional and international work environment Empower participants to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic growth and development of their home countries Develop a pipeline of skilled professionals with strong analytical, managerial, and digital competencies Eligibility and Nationality Requirements To be eligible for appointment, candidates must be nationals of a Member State of the Organization. Eligible countries include: Botswana Cape Verde Kingdom of Eswatini The Gambia Ghana Kenya Kingdom of Lesotho Liberia Malawi Mauritius Mozambique Namibia Rwanda São Tomé and Príncipe Seychelles Sierra Leone Somalia Sudan Uganda United Republic of Tanzania Zambia Zimbabwe Qualifications and Experience Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields: Business Studies / Business Administration Law Business Analytics / Project Management / Strategy Telecommunications The degree must have been obtained within the last five (5) years Candidates must be 28 years old or younger at the time of application Required Competencies and Skills Successful candidates should demonstrate: Strong planning and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively Creativity, innovation, and initiative Strong digital literacy Excellent written and spoken English proficiency Conditions of Employment and Benefits Participants in the Young Professionals Programme will receive a competitive benefits package, including: Monthly stipend: USD 2,500 Settling-in grant: One-time payment equivalent to one month’s stipend upon appointment Travel benefits: Free travel to the host country upon appointment Free return travel to the home country upon completion of the programme Medical Aid / Insurance: 80% employer contribution 20% participant contribution Leave entitlements: Annual leave Sick leave Compassionate leave Insurance coverage: Group Life Cover Funeral Cover Accident Cover Repatriation grant: One-time payment equivalent to one month’s stipend upon completion of the programme Application and Selection Process Applications must be submitted on or before 24 January 2026 Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted This programme presents a unique opportunity for motivated young professionals to gain valuable international exposure, develop critical skills, and contribute to impactful work aligned with national and regional development goals.
