The SI Global Executive Programme (SIGEP) is a high-level leadership initiative designed for senior executives ready to integrate sustainability into core business strategy. Delivered by the Swedish Institute, the programme supports global business leaders in driving transformative change aligned with economic resilience, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability. Running from May to November 2026, the programme combines online learning with a one-week immersive onsite experience in Stockholm, Sweden. A Programme for Senior Leaders in the Green Transition In today’s interconnected global economy, sustainability is no longer optional it is a strategic imperative. The SI Global Executive Programme equips CEOs and senior executives with advanced tools to reshape business models, strengthen competitiveness, and respond to pressing sustainability challenges. Sweden is internationally recognised for sustainable innovation and cross-sector collaboration. Participants gain first-hand exposure to Swedish companies, policymakers, and experts leading the green transition, applying insights directly within their own organisations. Each cohort includes approximately 100 senior executives from 24 eligible countries, creating a diverse peer network built on shared challenges and strategic exchange. What Participants Gain The SI Global Executive Programme offers: Advanced understanding of social, ecological, and economic sustainability within planetary boundaries Expertise in systemic strategic business development for sustainability Strengthened change-leadership capabilities Insights from Swedish business cases in sustainable innovation Coaching and expert facilitation A global executive network across 24 countries Direct engagement with Swedish companies and organisations Access to the Swedish Institute Alumni Network of 20,000+ leaders The programme is highly interactive. It is not lecture-based — participants are expected to actively contribute, apply insights, and develop strategic initiatives during the programme. Programme Structure (May–November 2026) The programme consists of five integrated components: 1. Foundation (May–June | Online) Participants explore cutting-edge developments in sustainable business and the green transition while strengthening change leadership skills. Networking occurs across regional and sector groups. 2. Strategic Business Project (June–October) Each executive identifies and launches a business transformation project aligned with their company’s sustainability goals. The project focuses on measurable impact, return on investment, and long-term value creation. 3. Advanced Practice Sessions (August–September | Online) Participants join tailored learning tracks featuring webinars, peer dialogue, and contributions from Swedish business leaders. These sessions deepen expertise and support project implementation. 4. Sweden Week (12–16 October | Onsite in Stockholm) An immersive experience including: Field visits Workshops Networking events Cultural activities Engagement with Swedish business leaders and experts 5. Way Forward (November | Online) Participants present early results, strengthen alumni networks, and connect with Swedish embassies and peers in their home countries. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must: Be a citizen and resident of one of 24 eligible countries, including Brazil, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Thailand, Türkiye, Ukraine, Vietnam, and others. Hold a senior leadership position (CEO or executive) with authority to drive strategic change. Be at least 30 years old (born 1996 or earlier). Have strong English proficiency. Hold a completed bachelor’s degree or higher. Identify a business challenge suitable for development during the programme. Company Requirements The applicant’s company must: Be locally owned in an eligible country,OR a Swedish company operating in an eligible country,OR part of the supply chain of a Swedish company. Operate in or commit to industries linked to the green transition. Demonstrate commitment to sustainable business practices. Priority industries for 2026 include: Renewable energy Responsible mining Sustainable transportation Digitalisation Financial Coverage The Swedish Institute covers: All programme fees Pre-arranged accommodation in Stockholm Meals during Sweden Week Participants or their companies must cover travel costs to and from Stockholm. Limited support may be available upon request. Key Dates for 2026 25 February – 25 March: Application period May – June: Foundation (online) May – October: Strategic Business Project August – September: Advanced Practice Sessions 12–16 October: Sweden Week (onsite) November: Way Forward sessions The programme begins officially on 20 May 2026.
