globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

February 12, 2026

Description

The Club of Rome has officially opened applications for its 2026 Communications Fellowship, a seven-month professional mentoring initiative designed to amplify diverse voices in the global sustainability dialogue. This remote program is specifically tailored for early-career communications professionals residing in the “Most of the World” regions, including Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. 2026 Communications Fellowship Core Objectives and Experience The fellowship provides a platform for individuals to bridge the gap between complex systems thinking and non-specialist audiences. Successful candidates will work alongside the Club of Rome’s communications team, gaining hands-on experience in: Web Publishing: Managing and updating digital content on the official website. Media Outreach: Preparing materials to engage global press and media outlets. Multimedia Production: Creating engaging video, photographic, and audio content. Social Media Management: Developing strategies and content for various social platforms. Event Coverage: Providing live or post-event communication support for organizational initiatives. Candidate Requirements The organization is seeking two fellows who align with the vision of a world that prioritizes wellbeing on a healthy planet. Ideal candidates should possess: Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in science or journalism, or current enrollment in a science journalism program. Communication Skills: Fluency in written and oral English, with a demonstrated ability to translate scientific research into accessible narratives. Technical Proficiency: Experience with, or a strong interest in, digital storytelling tools such as video editing, photography, and social media. Sustainability Focus: A track record of writing about sustainability or systems thinking for outlets like blogs, newspapers, or university websites. Geographic Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of countries within the specified regions (Africa, LAC, Middle East, or Asia-Pacific). Fellowship Terms and Logistics The program is designed to be a full-time, remote commitment that allows the fellow to work from their home environment while integrating with a global team. Duration: 1 July 2026 to 31 January 2027. Schedule: 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Compensation: A modest stipend adjusted for the fellow’s location, covering living costs and work-related travel. Benefits: 10 days of paid leave and one funded trip to meet the Club of Rome team in person. Application Guidelines The Club of Rome emphasizes the importance of authenticity in applications. While AI tools are acknowledged as helpful aids, the selection committee prioritizes the candidate’s unique voice and style. Submission Deadline: 20 February 2026 at 23:59 CET. Key Requirements: Applications must be in English and include a single writing or multimedia sample that best represents the candidate’s relevance to the role. Selection Process: All applications are reviewed by human members of the communications team; incomplete or late submissions will not be considered. Note on AI: Your application will be read and reviewed by humans – members of the Club of Rome communications team. While we understand that AI tools such as ChatGPT may be useful in preparing your applications, remember that in evaluating you as a potential Communications Fellow we will want to hear your authentic voice and style, so we encourage you to bring these across in your application. While you are welcome to attach links to complete portfolios, please select one writing or multimedia sample that you feel is the most relevant for your application. LEARN MORE & APPLY The application deadline is 20 February 2026 23:59 CET. Due to the high number of applications received, incomplete applications, applications not in English and applications received after the deadline will not be considered. There is a modest stipend dependent on location for the seven-month fellowship, working Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week and includes 10 days paid leave. The fellowship will run from 1 July 2026 to 31 January 2027.
