This six-month paid traineeship offers an excellent opportunity for master’s and PhD students, as well as recent graduates in related fields, to contribute to global climate governance, policy analysis, and independent evaluation within a multicultural international organization. About the Green Climate Fund The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the world’s largest dedicated climate fund, established under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It supports developing countries in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening resilience to climate change while promoting sustainable development. The internship is hosted by the Independent Evaluation Unit (IEU), which evaluates the performance of the Green Climate Fund and provides evidence-based recommendations to improve climate finance policies and decision-making. Internship Details Position: IEU Policy Intern Organization: Green Climate Fund (GCF) Department: Independent Evaluation Unit (IEU) Location: Songdo, Incheon, Republic of Korea Duration: Six months Expected Start Date: September 2026 Application Deadline: 22 July 2026 Monthly Stipend: US$1,600 Employment Type: Full-time internship What Will You Do? The selected intern will join the Policy and Board Engagement team, working on projects that support climate policy development and institutional learning. Key responsibilities include: Conduct literature reviews and benchmarking of evaluation policies from international organizations. Support policy analysis for independent evaluations. Assist with preparations before, during, and after Green Climate Fund Board meetings. Develop and maintain knowledge management systems tracking Board decisions and evaluation recommendations. Prepare policy briefs, analytical reports, and institutional documents. Create presentations and communication materials. Provide administrative and coordination support to the Policy and Board Engagement team. Perform additional analytical and operational assignments as required. This internship provides exposure to international governance, evaluation systems, and climate finance while allowing participants to work alongside experienced policy specialists. Strong communication and analytical abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural environments. Professional judgment and respect for confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications Although not mandatory, applicants with the following backgrounds will have an advantage: Familiarity with independent evaluation in international organizations. Knowledge of climate finance or UNFCCC processes. Experience in environmental or climate policy. Skills in Canva, Prezi, Power BI, or other visualization tools. Previous work involving evaluation or policy research.
