The Role ASOS is seeking an experienced Senior Sustainability Manager to lead the company’s environmental and carbon reduction strategy. This role is central to ASOS’s ambition to become a responsible and sustainable leader in global fashion, ensuring that environmental impact is minimized across the value chain and that climate action is embedded into every aspect of the business. The Senior Sustainability Manager will drive the delivery of ASOS’s carbon reduction roadmap, oversee science-based targets, and implement net zero strategies across global sourcing, logistics, and operations. The position requires strategic leadership, strong technical expertise, and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders—from suppliers and internal teams to NGOs and regulators. This is a high-impact role for an individual passionate about driving meaningful change within the fashion industry, combining analytical rigour with creative problem-solving to accelerate ASOS’s transition to a low-carbon, resilient future. Key Responsibilities 1. Carbon Reduction and Net Zero Strategy Lead ASOS’s company-wide carbon reduction strategy across Scopes 1–3, ensuring alignment with global best practice. Model emissions scenarios and drive decarbonisation initiatives across sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and operations. Own the development and implementation of ASOS’s science-based targets and carbon accounting methodologies. Establish and track performance metrics for energy, waste, water, and supplier emissions, driving continuous improvement. 2. Environmental Supply Chain Strategy Lead environmental strategy across product processing, manufacturing, and transportation. Partner with suppliers and production facilities to improve traceability, transparency, and environmental performance. Conduct due diligence on climate and nature-related risks including biodiversity, water, chemicals, and waste management. Embed lifecycle thinking and circularity principles into sourcing and product design decisions. 3. Risk Management and Resilience Identify and assess climate and environmental risks throughout the ASOS supply chain. Develop mitigation plans to strengthen supplier resilience and ensure long-term operational stability. Integrate risk insights into sourcing, procurement, and strategic planning frameworks. 4. Reporting and Regulation Lead ASOS’s ESG and environmental reporting, including submissions to CDP, TCFD, GRI, and CSRD frameworks. Monitor and interpret evolving sustainability regulations, ensuring internal policies remain compliant and forward-looking. Shape ASOS’s approach to product footprinting, lifecycle assessment, and transparent disclosure. ASOS operates a hybrid working model, requiring employees to spend at least three days per week in the London office. This approach supports collaboration, learning, and innovation across teams while maintaining flexibility. Candidate Profile Essential Experience and Skills Deep understanding of fashion and apparel supply chains, from Tier 1 through Tier 5. Proven experience developing and implementing carbon reduction and sustainability strategies. Proficiency in ESG reporting frameworks and environmental data management systems (CDP, GRI, TCFD). Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including emissions modelling, KPI tracking, and data visualization. Experience assessing and mitigating climate and nature-related risks in manufacturing and sourcing environments. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of translating complex sustainability data into actionable business insights. Current knowledge of sustainability regulations, industry standards, and emerging global trends. Desirable Attributes A solutions-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
