The Rainbow TB Forum (RTBF) and Paneer Poo HIV Women’s Network are community-led initiatives that originated from the grassroots efforts of Blossom Trust, a non-profit organization active in Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu since 1993. Both networks were established in response to the lived experiences of people affected by tuberculosis (TB) and HIV, with a mission to address stigma, discrimination, and barriers to equitable healthcare. Rainbow TB Forum (RTBF) emerged after the launch of Blossom Trust’s Campaign for Education, Prevention, and Treatment of Tuberculosis (CEPT) in 2009. During this campaign, college students undergoing TB testing and treatment faced discrimination within public health systems. This prompted TB survivors to form a collective platform advocating for patient rights, dignified care, and equitable treatment. RTBF now functions as a survivor-led network that strengthens community support systems, promotes awareness, and addresses tuberculosis as both a medical and social concern. Similarly, the Paneer Poo HIV Women’s Network was founded in 2005 to support over 1,000 HIV-affected individuals and families. The network unites more than 400 women living with HIV into a self-help and peer-support platform, providing: Counselling and health education Access to antiretroviral treatment Training on patient rights, advocacy, and leadership Paneer Poo empowers women to overcome stigma, improve health outcomes, enhance socio-economic well-being, and collectively advocate for their social, economic, and cultural rights.
