globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

August 28, 2026

Description

The Blue Ambition Fund (BAF), an initiative of the Wilde Ganzen Foundation in the Netherlands, has launched its 2026 call for applications to support organisations working to improve economic opportunities for marginalised youth and women. The funding opportunity focuses on strengthening small and growing businesses, developing workforce skills, and creating sustainable employment opportunities in selected African countries. Through this open funding call, eligible non-profit organisations and social enterprises are invited to submit proposals that align with the Fund’s mission of promoting economic independence and inclusive economic growth. About the Blue Ambition Fund The Blue Ambition Fund is designed to support innovative approaches that enable young people and women to access dignified employment and build sustainable livelihoods. The programme focuses on addressing employment challenges among marginalised groups, particularly youth aged between 15 and 35 years and women who face barriers to economic participation. The Fund supports initiatives that strengthen local economies by improving business capacity, enhancing skills development, and encouraging partnerships between organisations and the private sector. Funding Focus Areas For the 2026 application cycle, the Blue Ambition Fund will prioritise projects focused on two key areas: Supporting Small and Growing Businesses The Fund seeks organisations that help small and growing enterprises improve their productivity, expand operations, and create more employment opportunities. Supported initiatives may focus on: Building business management capacity. Improving productivity and operational efficiency. Supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners. Helping businesses scale sustainably. Creating dignified employment opportunities. By strengthening small and medium enterprises, the programme aims to contribute to long-term economic development and increased job creation. Creating Sustainable Employment Through Skills Development The second focus area involves developing practical skills among youth and women through short-term training programmes connected to employment opportunities. Projects should focus on skills development approaches that involve collaboration with private sector partners to improve employment outcomes. Eligible activities may include: Technical skills training. Soft skills development. Career coaching and mentorship. Industry-focused training programmes. Private sector partnerships that support employment placement. The goal is to ensure participants gain relevant skills that directly improve their chances of securing sustainable work. Eligible Countries for the 2026 Call The current Blue Ambition Fund application cycle is limited to organisations operating in three African countries: Uganda Ethiopia South Africa Organisations applying must demonstrate that their work contributes to youth employment, women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship development, or sustainable job creation. Completed applications should be submitted before the deadline of 15 August 2026 through the official application channels provided by Wilde Ganzen Foundation. Shortlisted applicants will be requested to provide additional documentation, including: Latest annual reports. Financial information. Due diligence documentation. Additional project details. Participation in a short video meeting. The selection process is designed to ensure that funding reaches organisations with effective strategies, strong governance, and the capacity to deliver sustainable employment outcomes. Supporting Inclusive Economic Growth The Blue Ambition Fund represents an important opportunity for organisations working to address unemployment and economic exclusion among youth and women. By investing in entrepreneurship, skills development, and private sector partnerships, the programme aims to create pathways toward financial independence and long-term economic resilience. Through collaboration with local organisations and social enterprises, the Fund continues to support solutions that create meaningful employment opportunities and strengthen communities across Africa.
