Organisation Overview Born in Bradford (BiB) is a leading research initiative hosted at the Bradford Institute for Health Research, Bradford Royal Infirmary. The programme focuses on understanding the factors influencing childhood health and wellbeing in the UK and translating findings into impactful interventions. BiB emphasises high-quality, community-driven, and innovative research to improve health outcomes locally and nationally. The BiB team operates with a hybrid working model, requiring a minimum of 60% office-based work, while fostering collaboration across multiple research projects and centres. Position Summary BiB is seeking two enthusiastic and skilled qualitative Research Fellows to join its team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. This role is full-time (37.5 hours per week, with a minimum of 30 hours per week) and falls under Band 6. The Research Fellows will contribute to BiB’s diverse portfolio, including high-impact projects such as: Healthy Urban Places – examining the influence of urban environments on health. Age of Wonder: Teenage Stories – exploring adolescent experiences and wellbeing. The Research Fellows will be responsible for managing the qualitative components of these studies, spanning planning, data collection, analysis, and dissemination. Key Dates: Closing Date: 05/01/2026 Interviews Start: 20/01/2026 Main Duties and Responsibilities The Research Fellows will support both project-specific and broader qualitative research initiatives through the Bradford Centre for Qualitative Research (BCQR). Key responsibilities include: Qualitative Research Management: Plan and manage qualitative components across multiple projects. Collect, code, and analyse qualitative data to generate actionable insights. Contribute to the dissemination of findings through reports, publications, and presentations. Capacity Building and Networking: Support BCQR in raising the profile of qualitative research within BiB. Build capacity by facilitating training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. Engage with local and national stakeholders to foster collaborative networks. Operational and Administrative Support: Assist with project planning, organisation, and resource coordination. Support grant applications and contribute to securing funding for community-driven research. Ensure compliance with ethical and governance standards for research activities. The role requires flexibility, creativity, and a commitment to applying qualitative methods to address real-world public health challenges. Candidate Profile Qualifications and Experience: Experience in qualitative research methods, including interviews, focus groups, and thematic analysis. Previous involvement in health or social science research is desirable. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Experience in training or capacity-building activities is an advantage. Skills and Competencies: Strong organisational and project management skills. Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to community-engaged research and ethical practice. Flexibility to work in both office and hybrid settings.
