The Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) has opened applications for its South to South Fellowship Programme, inviting women from diverse backgrounds across Asia and the Pacific to apply. The fellowship specifically encourages applications from women belonging to minority and marginalized communities who are affiliated with APWLD member or partner organizations. This fellowship offers an opportunity for emerging feminist leaders to strengthen their experience in regional organizing, institutional coordination, and women’s rights advocacy. Fellows will work closely with the APWLD Secretariat and its regional membership network to support initiatives that advance women’s human rights, feminist leadership, and Development Justice. Application Deadline: 25 March 2026 Programme Duration: Minimum of 6 months Expected Start Date: April 2026 Work Arrangement: Remote (Home Country) The fellowship may be extended beyond the initial period depending on mutual agreement between the fellow and APWLD. About the South to South Fellowship Programme The South to South Fellowship Programme is designed to strengthen collaboration and leadership among feminist activists and organizations across the Asia-Pacific region. The programme provides participants with an opportunity to engage in institutional work that supports feminist movement-building and cross-border solidarity. Through this fellowship, participants will: Gain practical experience working with a regional feminist network Strengthen their understanding of women’s human rights and development issues Support coordination and engagement among APWLD members Contribute to the strengthening of feminist leadership and collaboration The selected fellow will work alongside APWLD’s leadership, governance structures, and Secretariat team to support the organization’s mission of building stronger feminist movements and advocating for equitable development. Fellowship Duration and Responsibilities The selected fellow will serve for a six-month period, working remotely from their home country. During this time, the fellow will contribute to institutional coordination and provide support to APWLD’s leadership and network. Key responsibilities include: Institutional Coordination Assist the Regional Coordinator and Interim/Deputy Regional Coordinator in facilitating coordination between leadership and the Secretariat Provide effective liaison support to ensure smooth communication and workflow Assist in managing the institutional work calendar and organizational priorities Administrative and Logistical Support Provide technical and logistical support for scheduling, including travel arrangements and meeting preparation Coordinate logistical and administrative arrangements for governance and membership meetings Support the organization of annual and quarterly meetings involving members and leadership Network Engagement and Collaboration Work closely with APWLD leadership to organize spaces for strategic discussions among members Support initiatives that strengthen member engagement, solidarity, and leadership development Assist governance bodies in coordinating institutional activities and collaborative processes Documentation and Communication Provide documentation support during Secretariat and governance meetings Assist with managing correspondence through the APWLD organizational email account Support internal communication and coordination across teams Membership Management Assist with the membership application process, including consolidating information and maintaining databases Systematize and update the APWLD membership database Communicate with membership applicants and support related administrative processes Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to support the organization’s operations and strategic objectives. Eligibility and Selection Criteria Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the fellowship: Organizational Affiliation Must be a staff member or active member of an APWLD member or partner organization Must receive a formal recommendation from their organization Age and Leadership Experience Must be a young woman under 35 years of age at the time of application Must not have held an executive position within their organization Professional Experience Minimum 2–5 years of experience in women’s movement work at the local or national level Demonstrated experience in feminist organizing, advocacy, or social justice initiatives Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of women’s human rights and development issues in Asia and the Pacific Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools Additional advantages include: Experience in event coordination or administrative roles Previous work in liaison or coordination positions within civil society organizations Applicants must also demonstrate their ability to work remotely and commit to the fellowship for the full duration. Return Commitment Requirement Fellows must obtain a written commitment from their recommending organization confirming that they will return to contribute to the organization after completing the fellowship. The return commitment must be double the duration of the fellowship period. For example: A 6-month fellowship requires a 12-month return commitment This may be fulfilled through paid employment or voluntary service This requirement ensures that the knowledge and experience gained through the fellowship benefit the fellow’s home organization and local feminist movements. Fellowship Stipend APWLD will provide a monthly stipend of USD $800 for the duration of the fellowship. This stipend is intended to support the fellow while they work remotely and contribute to the organization’s regional initiatives.
