The Office of Academic Resources (OAR) at Chulalongkorn University invites global scholars and library and information professionals to apply for the Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship Program 2026. This two-month fellowship in Bangkok, Thailand, offers an opportunity to engage in collaborative projects or research across librarianship, information science, archival management, educational technology, scholarly communication, and Thai or Southeast Asian Studies. Applicants may choose one of two fellowship tracks tailored to their professional background and academic goals. Fellowship Tracks Track 1: Professional Practice This track is designed for library and information professionals with at least three years of relevant experience. It is suited for those working in operational roles, service innovation, or digital initiatives. Fellows selected for this track collaborate closely with OAR staff on a short project aimed at practical service development or application. Priority consideration is given to projects related to digital preservation, research data management, archive and multimedia management, scholarly communication, services supporting less dominant cultures or subcultures, library and repository management, and data visualisation or machine-learning applications within cultural institutions. Track 2: Research Fellowship This track targets scholars with terminal degrees who aim to produce a co-authored academic paper or conduct a concise research project on Thai or Southeast Asian Studies using the OAR’s specialised collections, particularly those at the Thailand and ASEAN Information Center. Applicants must demonstrate a strong publication record in Thai Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, or related fields, with evidence of publishing in reputable international journals. Program Objectives The fellowship aims to foster cross-cultural knowledge exchange, strengthen global collaboration in academic resource management, and enhance professional competencies in diverse environments. It also seeks to increase international awareness and utilisation of Thai and Southeast Asian resources within global academic communities. Fellowship Structure and Duration Only one fellowship is available for the 2026 cycle. The program spans two months, with fellows selecting one of two start periods: May 1–June 30, 2026, or June 1–July 31, 2026. Fellows are expected to commit fully to the program and engage onsite throughout its duration. Eligibility Requirements All applicants must be non-Thai citizens and demonstrate adaptability in working within culturally diverse settings where English is not the primary language. Candidates must be employed by a recognised university or institution for the duration of the fellowship and must secure approval from their home institution to participate. Strong English proficiency and availability for the full fellowship period are essential. Program Expectations Fellows are required to engage actively in collaborative work with OAR staff. This may include joint authorship, project development, or participation in ongoing library activities. The resulting work may later be used by both the fellow and OAR staff for academic or professional advancement, with appropriate acknowledgment of shared contributions. Additionally, fellows must present their project or research outcomes during an OAR-hosted knowledge-sharing session and submit a comprehensive final report by the end of the fellowship. Financial Support The fellowship provides a stipend of 230,000 THB, subject to a 15% withholding tax according to Thai regulations. This stipend is intended to cover both pre-arrival and on-site expenses such as airfare, visa fees, accommodation, health insurance, and other costs. Fellows must initially self-fund pre-arrival expenses, as the first stipend instalment is issued only after arrival and completion of administrative procedures. The second instalment is provided at the end of the program following submission of all required work and the final report. Application Requirements All documents must be submitted in English and uploaded in PDF format, with each file not exceeding 10 MB. Required materials include a current CV with photo, a project proposal of 2,000–5,000 words outlining objectives, deliverables, and timeline, and an institutional permission letter confirming employment and approval to participate. Proposed work must be original, not part of a degree program, previously funded, or under review elsewhere. Application Timeline Applications must be submitted by December 31, 2025, at 23:59 Thailand time via the online form. Shortlisted candidates will be announced on January 16, 2026, through the OAR website, with interviews conducted via Zoom between January 26 and February 13, 2026. Final results will be published on February 27, 2026. Additional Information Applicants are responsible for obtaining a Non-Immigrant Visa Category B and preparing for a work permit application. The OAR will provide necessary documents to support both processes. Fellows must bring their own laptops and software and must report to OAR on the designated arrival date with all required documentation for administrative setup.
