Fellowship Overview This prestigious fellowship offers a 12-month, full-time research experience, beginning in mid-April 2026. Fellows will actively participate in ongoing research programs and collaborate with leading scientists in global health. The program focuses on developing practical skills in: Clinical trials and study design Epidemiological research Statistical modelling and machine learning Bioinformatics and data analysis Participants will contribute to real-world research projects, gaining exposure to high-impact studies that address pressing public health challenges in Africa and beyond. Key Learning Areas Fellows will engage in a broad range of interdisciplinary activities, including: Designing and implementing clinical and epidemiological studies Managing and analysing complex datasets Applying statistical and computational methods to health data Conducting machine learning and predictive modelling Supporting bioinformatics research in infectious diseases and public health This comprehensive approach ensures that fellows develop both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise. Applicants must meet the following requirements: Be a national and resident of a Sub-Saharan African country Hold a BSc degree (minimum second class upper or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field Possess an MSc degree (GPA ≥ 3.2 or equivalent) in Biostatistics, Health Data Science, or a related discipline Have at least one year of relevant work experience Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as R, Stata, or SAS (or willingness to improve) Show strong English language proficiency Applicants with a PhD are also encouraged to apply, reflecting the program’s inclusive approach to advanced research training.
