The Early Career Committee (ECC) of the International Society of Political Psychology is now inviting applications for its 2026–2027 cycle, offering early-career scholars a unique opportunity to contribute to an international academic community focused on political psychology and related disciplines. The ECC is a dynamic, volunteer-driven body dedicated to fostering professional development, mentorship, and global networking among emerging scholars. It brings together graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career academics from across the world to support career growth and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration. About the ECC The ECC operates within the broader framework of the ISPP, an international scholarly society that promotes research at the intersection of psychology and politics. The committee plays an active role in shaping early-career engagement within the society and contributes to key academic events and initiatives. A central priority of the ECC is inclusivity. The committee actively seeks to reflect the diversity of ISPP’s global membership, ensuring representation across continents, academic stages, and disciplinary backgrounds, including political science, social psychology, and related fields. Who Can Apply? Applications are open to individuals who meet the following criteria: Graduate students or researchers within eight years of receiving a PhD Current members of the International Society of Political Psychology Scholars from any country, region, or academic background Candidates from all academic ranks, including: Graduate students Postdoctoral researchers Assistant professors and early-career faculty The ECC strongly encourages applications from a diverse range of disciplines and global regions to ensure broad representation within the committee. Responsibilities and Opportunities ECC members take on an active role in shaping early-career engagement within ISPP. Key responsibilities include: Organizing and participating in events at the ISPP Annual Meeting, such as the Mentoring Luncheon and professional development workshops Supporting mentorship initiatives for early-career scholars Building and maintaining international professional networks Contributing to leadership activities within the committee Beyond formal responsibilities, the ECC offers meaningful opportunities for professional growth and academic development within a global scholarly community. Benefits of Joining Participation in the ECC provides early-career scholars with: Leadership experience within an international academic society Opportunities to develop and strengthen professional networks Access to mentorship and peer support systems Active involvement in shaping conference programming and early-career initiatives Exposure to interdisciplinary academic collaboration ECC officers also benefit from a 50% discount on ISPP conference registration fees (subject to change) and may apply for travel grants to support attendance at annual meetings. Conferences and Engagement ECC officers are typically expected to attend the ISPP Annual Meeting in person. Upcoming conference locations include: Amsterdam, Netherlands (2027) A location to be announced for 2028 Attendance logistics, including travel arrangements, are managed independently or through institutional support, consistent with standard academic conference practices.
