Young people in Kenya with experience in youth organisations, civil society, community initiatives, networks or movements are invited to apply for the second cohort of the European Union Youth Sounding Board (YSB). The initiative brings together young leaders from across Kenya to contribute to structured dialogue between young people, civil society and the European Union. Selected participants will have an opportunity to share perspectives from their communities and help shape discussions around youth participation and empowerment within the EU-Kenya partnership. The European Union Delegation to Kenya, through the Meaningful Engagement – Transformative Action (META) for Structured CSO Dialogue in Kenya project, is inviting applications for the new cohort. The application deadline is 31 August 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Nairobi Time. What Is the EU Youth Sounding Board? The EU Youth Sounding Board is a platform that brings together young people to advise the European Union Delegation to Kenya on issues affecting youth participation and empowerment. For the second cohort, the initiative will select 15 young people from across Kenya. Members will contribute to dialogue involving young people, civil society organisations and the European Union. The initiative is designed to help ensure that the EU’s partnership with Kenya remains inclusive, relevant and responsive to the needs and aspirations of young people. The programme particularly seeks young leaders who are already engaged in their communities and can contribute perspectives informed by their experiences and collective initiatives. Who Is the Opportunity For? The call is aimed at young people in Kenya who are passionate about strengthening youth participation and influencing policies affecting young people. Applicants are expected to have experience or active involvement in areas such as: Youth organisations Civil society organisations Community initiatives Youth networks Social or community movements Other collective initiatives involving young people The selection process is intended to promote a diverse, collaborative and community-minded cohort capable of representing the perspectives of the communities they serve. What Will Selected Members Do? Members of the Youth Sounding Board will contribute to structured engagement between young people, civil society and the European Union Delegation to Kenya. Their contributions will focus on helping strengthen youth participation and empowerment and ensuring that young people’s perspectives are reflected in discussions surrounding the EU-Kenya partnership. The initiative therefore offers young leaders an opportunity to participate in meaningful policy dialogue while bringing community-level perspectives into conversations with an international institution.
